Crash running "arch" on an apparently broken list archive

(At least I now seem to be able to get to the admin pages...) I noticed during my investigations into what was wrong with the lists I was transferring into Mailman 2.0rc1 after installing RH 7.0 that one of the lists' archives was broken. I ran ~mailman/bin/arch on the list. Mailman bugs

I am running mailman-2.0beta6 and have noticed the following bugs. Are they likely to be corrected in v2.0, supposedly coming out this week? (1) Although I have set (in fact it was the default setting) open posting, I am still asked to confirm all postings by non list members. (2) The archives are all reported (falsely) to be empty, presumably because index.html is not updated. (3) The date on admin emails to me (as list-owner) is not properly set.

Hi all, I have just installed mailman 2.0 beta5 on a debian/linux platform Change in apache configuration has been made: % vi /etc/apache/srm.conf > ScriptAlias /mailman/ /usr/lib/mailman/cgi-bin/ I noticed that the link in page at http://www.openlabs.it/mailman/listinfo points to http://www.openlabs.it/admin rather than to http://www.openlabs.it/mailman/admin How can that be fixed? thank you Pol -- OpenLabs

the list admin overview page

I just updated my server from 1.1 to 2 Orc.1 and everything went fine...I think. However if I click on <the list admin overview page> the link points to /admin/ instead of /mailman/admin/. If I type it in it works. Where is the main page generated from so I can edit this? Thanks Carl Sweetland

udmsearch question

Hi all, I am posting this to this mailing list because many of you might be already using udmsearch and I am hoping on getting some help. the setup I have is as follows, in udm search config I set it to index www.earlham.edu/archive and that does the public archives just fine. so for private mailing lists I set it to index www.earlham.edu/mailman/private and that won't work because it asks for a listname. If I put a list name, (time comsuming for many lists) I am stuck with username and passwd. there is a way in udmsearch to authenticate using AuthBasic but that is not working with mailman. I though that I could do an apache ScriptAlias so that I can get to the private index list with something like www.earlham.edu/privatearchives/ this would work to index pages in udmsearch. But I don't want those archives public, so I put a htaccess passwd on it. and I can use the udmsearch capabilites to authenticate with htaccess. so now udm search lists the urls it found as http://www.earlham.edu/privatearchive/admstaff/October2000/msg00007.html I click on it, is asks for the htaccess passwd. And that won't work for people. Is there a way to make www.earlham.edu/mailman/private/ list all the lists? or if I am taking a very bad approach to this. Please let me know. config.db ownership ?

When I use the web pages to view or change the config.db of a test list I made, the ownership changes from mailman to nobody. If I use the command line it seems to work fine. my system is slackware 7.1, Python 2.0, Mailman 2.0rc1 I compiled Mailman ./configure --perfix=/usr/local/mailman --with-mail-gid=2 --with-cgi-gid=98 My system is running sendmail and it is at gid=2, my apache is running at gid=98 With this setup every time I use the web page I can see the ownership of the config.dbs change to nobody, I'm assuming that is because that is the use for apache. After that I get an error saying that [Errno13] Permission denied '/usr/local/mailman.lists/test/config.db' this make sense because the file config.db is no longer owned by mailman. The only way I was able to get mailman running was to reinstall it with the --with-username=nobody tag in the ./configure and to change the ownership of all files to nobody.mailman Is'nt the tag --with-cgi-gid= supposed to make it possible to have differnt users for the webserver and mailman? -- Jeff Maxwell jeff(a)crossvalley.com
