Hi I have just installed mailman as a replacement for listproc which we have been using for a while now. Mostly it seems to be working really well, and the archives and html interface are great. But I am having a few problems which I have not found answers to yet - so thought i would try this list. I use mailman for 4 lists, in anyone is about 20 users. I had configured bounce options to "Disable and notify me". Strange problems

Hey all, First off let me say I love mailman, and I have gotten nothing but top notch performance from it until now. I am sure this is something that I am missing. But when I installed the new version of mailman (beta4)... It seems mail sits in the qfiles directory and never get distributed...and if they do it is much much much later then the sending time. Any pointers? -- Jason

Leaving aside the issue of an incomplete error message, then, yes, newlist lowercased the name when you made it, and it told you what the name of the list was. The doc-string of newlist (in the file, comment at the top) says this, too. I don't know that there's any great reason for this, so you could certainly file it as a bug/rfe.

How about just not sending the welcome message? Otherwise, yes, of course you can edit the welcome; first, there's the stuff you can edit from the admin page; then there's the stuff in templates/subscribeack.txt. I just posted a patch to sourceforge that allows per-list overrriding of the templates/subscribeack.txt, too; perhaps Barry will consider that for a future release. > The welcome message that is generated is a bit "too much information" for > our liking

I just tried to add a 6668 member list to mailman using: ./add_members -n MCCComEd MCCComEd and this is what I got: ============================================================ Exception exceptions.AttributeError: <exceptions.AttributeError instance at 80b4728> in <method MailList.__del__ of MailList instance at 80b2818> ignored ============================================================ None of the addresses were added to the list. read only list - large newsletter mailing

Hi Mailmen and Mailwomen, I'm thinking of using mailman as my newsletter manager. I have a very large list of members though (200,000) who will be recieving a weekly, read only newsletter for my site. So basically, for me, I'd like mailman to be able to blast out to all my members my newsletter. I've looked through the archive list and have found some people who are also doing newsletters (read only) via mailman, but I'd love to hear more about the outcome.
