Help! I followed the contens of INSTALL. And I followed the HOWTO "exim and mailman" from www.exim.org Everything worked fine until the point: "Now create your first mailing list test" The thing that does not work is that the admin notification never reaches its destination. I tried it with the entries in /etc/aliases and without them. No exim logfiles show up an entry. So I suggest the mail never reached exim at all. I'm new at this, but I believe you can send attachments just fine, however if you are archiving you should use MHonArc as your archiver as the piper archiver doesn't handle html, word documents, etc. Roger Young Unix Admin eBuilt Inc. Yes, OK. But that still doesn't answer my question: What address does Mailman expect to receive bounces to in order to start bounce processing? Is it the list address or some other address? OK I did the upgrade to 2.0beta6 and all hell has broken loose. Followed INSTALL and UPGRADE but something is still wrong. My smtp-failures log is full of stuff like this: Sep 26 13:05:02 2000 (1549) -1 hedemark(a)bops.com (ignore) There is one log entry for every mailing list subscriber, and this gets updated every minute. Looks like lots of stuff is backed up in the queue and not going out. Have tried recompiling Mailman to no avail. This is on a Red Hat 6.2 system. FWIW, it is doing … [View More]

Regenerating "Your new mailing list" messages

Is it possible to regenerate the "Your new mailing list" messages which are sent to the list owner when the list is created? Changes not sticking

Hi, I'm fairly new to mailing lists in general, and Mailman in particular. I'm trying to help someone administer a new list. I can make changes to the member list without any problems, but the person who's supposed to be the list administrator can't seem to. She makes changes (eg. removes someone from the list), submits them, and nothing seems to have happened. Anybody have any ideas? Thanks! Rose -- Rose

Using Mailman version 2.0beta5 on a linux 2.2.15 box. I have a list with 32938 subscribers, all but one of whom are local to this machine. The list is setup so noone can post without approval from the list admin. This was all working away happily until yesterday. When the following started happening, this continues until I kill the mailman process and stop sendmail and clean out the queue.
