I am on the market for a new listserv service and I had a few questions I could not find answers to in the website: Is Mailman accessible from email? How does a user unsubscribe from email? Can the administrator bulk upload email addresses to the list? Can a user reply both publicly and privately? Is there digest and index capability? Are there ads on Mailman? If so, are we paid for these ads? pipermail vs hypermail

Hi there, We're looking into using Mailman to replace our current Majordomo setup. We're running into a problem with respect to pipermail, however. We have extensive archives under a hacked hypermail format. We need to keep all our archives together, whether that be in piper- or hyper-mail. I could use some advice on whether it's possible to use the Mailman archiving features to incorporate other mail-based archives. Yes, it can be done. However, it all depends on your Unix account. I'd suggest using an email filter; try looking for procmail availability in your Unix account or compile one (if you are allowed) from procmail.org. Other filters that you might want to search for: elm filter, mh filter, etc. Or you can roll your own mail filter using scripts. Sending e-mail to the list via a webform?

Hello there, I'm new to the world of Mailman. I'm having trouble accomplishing something that, I think, should be quite simple. I have done searches on Google to no avail. Anyway, I have a broadcast e-mail list set up for a client. They send out alerts via a webform on an admin page. When I send an e-mail from the form via PHP to my list's address with a "From:" header with an allowed poster's e-mail address it... Well, doesn't send the message. I get no messages at all. If I send the message directly from my mail client, it works like a charm. I have CC'ed myself on the mail from the webform and the from: header seems to be formed correctly. Can anyone think what would cause this difference? The reason that I am using a webform is that I also am updating information on a web page via a MySQL database. 1. As list administrator, is there any way I can get a list of all subscribers emailed to me? If not is there a way I can fiew the entire list at once? - Where should I have looked to find documentation on this? 2. Is there any wan I can mass delete list members? Many thanks.

Hello, I pay to remotely host my websites. At present, the only service they provide is straight Majordomo. The users on the lists I run all very much want an online archival feature. I've looked at the various online archiving options for Majordomo lists but they all require that the some basic configuration be done on the server hosting the lists. That part is beyond my control. Looking at Mailman, it looks like there are some basic server configurations that need to occur, again outside my control. I have my own cgi-bin directory and telnet access to a UNIX prompt. Does anyone know of a way for me to provide online archiving / browsing of the majordomo lists without having to involve my webhosts? Mailing list

Hi, I setup a mailing list on Mailman and I am able to access its configuration from the web interface. The problem is when I send email to this list no one of the list members receive any posted messages. I am running Mailman on Red Hat Linux and Sendmail is working fine with another Mailing List software. I am not really sure what is wrong. When I post a message to the list I don't get any error messages and the message is not delivered to the list. Thank you M.

Is the message sent by the list server a new message or a mere forwarded copy of the original message? There are good reasons for both sides. But, one gets a new Message-ID under the RFC and the other doesn't. Hi, Mailman has been working great for us, until the last three lists. I added the lists with the *newlist* command, updated the alias files, ran *newalias*. The list is there, and is accessible for admin functions, and requests to join the list go into the queue, but the admin is not notified by e-mail...this continues to work for lists that were created in the past, but not the new lists???
