Hi, I'm not sure that this is the right address to send this, but here it goes: Addition to Mailman: - Allow users to retrieve password via email commands, not only via the web interface. When a spammer subscribes people and disables the web interface, those individuals are left with no means to unsubscribe themselves, since they cannot get the password sent to them. moderated list

hi I had to make my mailing list moderated for some days. I used the emergency option for that. but now i have all moderate fields off but mailman always tells me and the users that the list is moderated. I don't want to delete that list and make a new one. I just sent myself one as a test, and the confirmation URL, at 144 characters, is on one line. Even when I down size the window to force the link to wrap, it's still clickable. The cut and paste reply line is well below 80 characters, so I can't see a problem there either. Maybe it's your settings in Eudora? Invalid reactivation tokens?

Folks: I've had a number of people mention to me that, when their mailing list subscription gets deactivated due to mail bounces, when they try to reactivate their subscription using the mailed token, Mailman tells them that the token is invalid. Has anyone else experienced this? Is there a fix? Any suggestions on how to replicate it? Thanks! david

tokens for confirmations are too long

Folks- The (IMHO) excessively long tokens are causing considerable confusion on the lists I help run. The problem is that any URL longer than 80 characters will be chopped by many mail clients- Eudora, for example. Let's be realistic- just 3 alphanumerics would allow for 46,656 unique IDs. 8 would allow for 2.8x10^12. Ie, a lot. The current tokens are 40 characters long- that's 1.7x10^62 combinations. So- consider this a combo bug report(URLs are so long they get munged because the token is half the word-wrap alone), and feature request. I think 4 characters would be plenty(1.6+ million combos). Not to mention, it makes it much less of a deal to have a clickable URL in the first place if the token's only 4 characters. problem with bounces

Hello, I'm new at administering a mailman list and I'm having problems with bounces. Every time someone write to the list I receive lots of mails notificating bounces. after receiving them I enter the administrative interface and I find checked the nomail check box with reason [B] and then I uncheck it. MailMan Web Not Taking Changes

I installed mailman and have had a list running for ages now. It works great. Just the other day I added a new list to my system. I can access the admin page via the web but when i make changes and then submit the form the changes do not take place. I have checked all permissions and am out of ideas. I have all cached pages turned off in my browser. Any ideas? Tnx, Blist

Possible bug with confirmation string & excessive bounces

We recently upgraded to Mailman 2.1.3. On one list (an unmoderated list), I get the following message: "Your membership in the mailing list Delphi-Talk has been disabled due to excessive bounces The last bounce received from you was dated 25-Dec-2003. You will not get any more messages from this list until you re-enable your membership. You will receive 3 more reminders like this before your membership in the list is deleted." When I follow the provided link, I get the following error message: "Bad confirmation string Invalid confirmation string: e00502102de3e568a5354639dbdcd116cf11a44a. Note that confirmation strings expire approximately 3 days after the initial subscription request. If your confirmation has expired, please try to re-submit your subscription. Otherwise, re-enter your confirmation string." I've searched the lists and find that this error is mentioned often but no solution is given. Any thoughts? Ken

Internal Server Error - only sometimes

hello! i am running debian woody with apache 1.3.26 and mailman version 2.0.11 both are default in debian woody and when i am administrating mailinglists or when i just visit 'listinfo' page i sometimes get Internal Server Error. But only sometimes. For example when i refresh 'listinfo' page for the 7th time i get ISE. in /var/log/apache/error.log: Premature end of script headers: /usr/lib/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo in /var/log/apache/suexec.log: [2003-12-26 11:43:50]: info: (target/actual) uid: (root/root) gid: (root/root) cmd: listinfo [2003-12-26 11:43:50]: crit: cannot run as forbidden uid (0/listinfo) i chceckd the permissions of listinfo, but i get only this and i think it is correct -rwxr-sr-x 1 root list 5596 Sep 18 2002 listinfo Please can you help me, or tell me where did i make a mistake?
