Corrupt config.db (and missing config.db.last)

Hello all, I'm hoping someone can point me into a direction that will allow me to rebuild a mailing list that I created about 3 months ago that got corrupt last night. Quick story and then the question. Story: Having a weird problem where my HDD (linux) goes into read only. when this happens I can't do anything that requires writing. Well this happened last night, and it wouldn't let me umount / init 1 so I had to just power off <gasp>. On bootup fsck couldn't fix all the problems automatically so I had to run fsck manually. There were problems with the file /var/lib/mailman/cincidsm/config.db.last which I was asked to "fix(y)" and I did. Problem: Now, when I email the list, I get a bounce, and error's in the /var/log/mailman/error log. Are there ways to "rebuild" the config file from the command line? Any help would be greatly appreciated, as until i get this worked out my list it down :-( Thanks, Dallace

Mailman bounces to porky.devel.redhat.com

Can anyone help me with this problem? I've discovered that some messages from my mailman installation went out with the following return path which is definitely not my system address: Return-Path: <mailman-bounces(a)porky.devel.redhat.com> It has not done this consistently. Then I discovered when trying to check the list archives that it was checking porky.devel.redhat.com. Any idea what is happening or tips how to troubleshoot this? TIA. John

Feature request..

Hiya! Would it be to much to ask for a language specific request? Both I and my users think a function to post different messages to different users depending of their language choice would be great! F.x. I run a news/info list that both English and Swedish users are hooked up to, if I write an English-only mail, that should go out to users who chose English only, and the same for Swedish, and then some feature to make messages go to both (all) if it's a multi-language message. Not sleeping for locks?

Good Morning, We've been noticing a very high load on our fileserver that holds our mailman spool. This morning when I ran 2 archivers at once because of a backlog to a list, I noticed that the stat request volume sky rocketed. From strace'ing a second archiver running, I see that the system doesn't even a tenth of a second in what I assume is the time.sleep call. [...] 11:15:10.712914 gettimeofday({1064938510, 712937}, NULL) = 0 11:15:10.712976 gettimeofday({1064938510, 712998}, NULL) = 0 <stat> 11:15:11.512977 gettimeofday({1064938511, 512995}, NULL) = 0 11:15:11.513035 gettimeofday({1064938511, 513051}, NULL) = 0 <stat> [...] Now maybe I'm not understanding what the following code is supposed to do: def __sleep(self): interval = random.random() * 2.0 + 0.01 time.sleep(interval) but I read it to be sleeping for between 0.01 and 2.01 seconds. During my traces, I never saw it sleep even 0.01 seconds, let alone anything ressembling something reasonably random. Am I just missing something? This was noticed on: Mailman version: 2.1.2 Python version: 2.2.2 OS version: Solaris 2.8 and RedHat 7.3 Thanks for any help! Is there a patch which improves bulk mailing?

I have two lists, each with 20,000 names on them. The algorithm Mailman uses, to create the list e-mail output, is to say the least inefficient. There was a program that was used in conjunction with Majordomo called Bulk-mailer which did a tremendous job. In effect, it bundled addresses based on domain name, and let you limit how many domain names were sent in the same e-mail. This way, on a 20K list, maybe 500 e-mails would go out, but they would do it in a fraction of the time Mailman currently does it (it takes about 6 - 10 hours). Thanks.

MM2.1.3 and List Moderator Passwords

I just updated from 2.1.2 to 2.1.3. On one of my lists, I can not get the List Moderator passwd to work. I can change the List Admin, and that works, but no matter what type of passwd I use, the Moderator pw will not validate. The Site pw works just fine. Any ideas?

Mailman 2.2.2-91 with Postfix. Mailman setup correctly but get the following error in /var/log/mail: Sep 29 15:14:48 mail postfix/pipe[1541]: 733ECC334: to=<staff(a)lfriendly.com>, relay=cyrus, delay=0, status=bounced (data format error.
