Hi, I am interested in exporting the email addresses on a list but haven't found a way to get them out. I can browse by first letter of the name but it only lists a few at a time. Admins access without notifications ?

I have been asked to add a person as a list moderator, but not send her any of the normal list admin emails.. is this possible in any manner.. either within mailman or external to mailman. System is running on a RH8 base with sendmail 8.12.x and mailman 2.1.2 thanks Mike

Mailman does not send mail ( Connection timed out )

Details: - Mailman 2.1 - Running on Debian Testing - Exim Mailman cannot send mail. The smtp log has the following: Sep 02 12:50:13 2003 (10072) All recipients refused: (110, 'Connection timed out') Sep 02 12:50:13 2003 (10072) <mailman.1.1062514822.27543.list(a)domain.com> smtp for 1 recips, completed in 189.360 seconds There are no entires in the Exim log that indicate that Exim is the point of failure, and I'm not banning relay from localhost. My best guess is that the SMTP server is somehow misconfigured. I assume the default would be localhost, which should work. Thoughts? Thanks!

Stripping received lines ?

Is there any way to automatically delete all the incoming received lines from incoming messages ? I've got a slew of moderators that are convinced that their email addresses are being harvested because of the presence in the received lines. thanks. Mike

Problem accessing mailman using alias IP name.

If I try to access mailman using an alias IP name, it tells me there are no mailing lists (although I can create new mailing lists under this alias name). How can I do this? Or can I easy move the mailing lists to ONLY be accessed from the alias name? Thanks.

Problem with qrunner OutgoingRunner

I've just upgraded my Mailman installation from a 2.0.x to a 2.1.2 on a Solaris 8 server using Python 2.2.2. And I think I have a problem with the OutgoingRunner but I can't put my finger on it. Here a the symtoms: 1. After I start mailman, the mailmanctl never exits. I can still see it in the process table. 2. The "mailmanctl stop" command stops everything but NOT the OutgoingRunner. I have to kill that one manually. 3. If I send subscription requests (email or web), I see them pending in logs/subscribe. I see a new file get created in qfiles/out. But nothing gets out. I never get the confirmation message. 4. I see no errors in logs/smtp-failure or any other files that would help me put my finger on the problem. Relaying denied

Hello, I have a problem to send email from an Microsoft Exchange Server to a Mailman server. 1. Several users are subscribed to an Exchange mailing list. then, they can send messages on the Exchange list 2. My mailman list is a subscriber to the Exchange mailing list, then a copy of each message is sent to the mailman list (for storage...) 3. It is not possible to do that... I receive the following message from the Exchange server : Impossible de contacter le(s) destinataire(s) suivant(s) : fbms le 29.08.2003 16:55 Vous n'êtes pas autorisé à envoyer de message à ce destinataire. Pour obtenir une assistance, contactez votre administrateur système. <EXCHANGELSN.sila.local #5.7.1 smtp;550 5.7.1 ... Relaying denied">fbms(a)vanuatu.sila.local <mailto:fbms@vanuatu.sila.local> >... Relaying denied Traduction: cannot contact ... fbms. you are not allowed to send message at fbms... Relaying denied. We migrate our Mail server 1 month ago, from Unix platform to Intel/Microsoft/Exchange platform. Before our migration, it was possible to send a message from our Unix mail server To our mailman server, without additionnal configuration ... Did you have an idea about this problem ? bulk adding with passwords

I have a website, written in php, that I require users to register for. Usernames and passwords are kept in mysql. If I want an anounce list associated with the website, run using Mailman, can I set the passwords for mailman to be the same as for the website? I've read through the add_member code, and the sync_member code, and it looks like they require a random password. It would be much more convenient for me if I could generate a report from mysql and dump it into Mailman, and get everything to sync up, including passwords... Any thoughts? I see where Mailman ver 2.1.1 has the ability to store not only members email addresses, but their names as well. Is it possible for Mailman, when posting a message, and possible using a global variable, to be able to insert a members name into the posting for a more "personalized" message? Just experienced my first "first-of-the-month" running mailman. How come the monthly password reminders for all lists come from "mailman-owner" instead of "$list-owner?" Is there a membership management interface that allows the mailman-owner to administer all email addresses subscribed to all lists? -- Chris Linstruth <cjl(a)qnet.com>
