mailman not working on virtual host ???

hi I am trying to configure mailman on my postfix server (postfix-1.1.11-114) using virtual domain. So I added a virtual domain "list.mydomain.com" on my postfix which is alreasy configured for "mydomain.com" Then I added /var/mailman/data/aliases file to alias_maps in main.cf Also added /var/mailman/data/virtual-mailman to virtual_maps in main.cf I created new list. Now it seems that when I drop a mail to my newly created mailman list. The postfix is able use to virtual table and re-write the address to "mydomain.com" but after this it is not able to recongnise the aliases written in /var/mailman/data/aliases and says "user unknown" postconf's output is given below. While updating I also get the following errors at some lists (not the same ones, where 'update' hangs): --- Updating mailing list: XXXX Updating the held requests database. - updating old private mbox file looks like you have a really recent CVS installation... you're either one brave soul, or you already ran me - updating old public mbox file - This list looks like it might have <= b4 list templates around Traceback (most recent call last): File "/usr/pack/mailman-2.1.5-inf/bin/update", line 782, in ? errors = main() File "/usr/pack/mailman-2.1.5-inf/bin/update", line 672, in main errors = errors + dolist(listname) File "/usr/pack/mailman-2.1.5-inf/bin/update", line 357, in dolist os.rename(o_tmpl, n_tmpl) OSError: [Errno 2] No such file or directory --- update exits at this point, but the next time it is run, the error does not appear any more (-> I have to run 'update' three times to get rid of all these errors). These errors always appear, when 'update' is run after MM 2.1.2 has been used. Any other ideas or hints? frank

Is there a way to include the subscribe form into HTML newsletters? Currently have one:  <form method=post action="http://mail.efluential.com/mailman/subscribe/sugar_efluential.co m"> <p align="center"><strong>SUBSCRIBING to SUGAR</strong></p> <p>Subscribe to Sugar by filling out the following form. You will be sent email requesting confirmation, to prevent others from gratuitously subscribing you. This is a hidden list, which means that the list of members is available only to the list administrator.<br><br> eMail:   <input type="Text" name="email" size="30" value="enter your email address here"><br><br> Name:   <input type="Text" name="fullname" size="30" value=""> <input type="submit" name="email-button" value="SIGN UP!" class="submit"></form>  but it gives the following message: Sugar Subscription results You must supply a valid email address. listowners list?

I found this post in the archive, but no response. I'm also not getting anywhere with listowner.org - the domain is active and last was changed in January. I have been using majordomo for many many years and am a couple of days into my first mailman list, as a customer of an ISP, and I'm looking for an appropriate resource to configuration help from my level (i.e., not the system access that the folks here are oriented towards). Hello, we run a non-profit server that includes mailman for our users. Is there a web interface for allowing the creation or deletion of lists? Couldn't find anything except the ~mailman/bin commands. TIA

We have a serious problem.

Dear Sir, We have a very serious problem. Someone is evidently using your e-mail address services (under an unreachable e-mail address called "imanway_imanway.com"), and then using my e-mail address and who knows how many other e-mail addresses to spam people everywhere. This is turning out to be a real mess. Hundreds of messages (supposedly from one of your address configurations) are clogging my mail box. I have also been receiving messages from folks who are also getting heavily spammed in this manner and they are really mad. Is there some authority we can turn this problem over to? Is there a way of finding out who is responsible for this? Since our trace led us directly to you, we desperately need your help. I would really appreciate your reply at your earliest convenience. We really need to do something about this. (A return message to me with a subject header that states "Imanway Spam Reply" will be looked at right away.) Won't allow other addresses to subscribe

I've set up my sullivanfamily list and set all subscriptions to be approved by me (michael(a)espersunited.com). I can subscribe michael(a)espersunited.com and approve myself and post to the list, but when I try to subscribe any other addresses (such as my tulsacoxmail.com email address) it shows me the page "Your request has been sent to the list owner for approval...", but I never get it and the Moderator requests page doesn't even mention that a subscription decision is pending. Is there anyone out there who is willing to help me set up mailman on my Fedora Core system? I used the rpm and now I can't even get it to send me a notification email when I set up a new list using newlist when I'm the list owner.

qrunner: Low level smtp error

mailman 2.1.4-5 debian sarge postfix (or sendmail) initial mail queues to the daemon ok and then goes into the qfiles directory, but then mailman qrunner processes it and I get this: Jun 23 17:08:05 2004 (19334) Low level smtp error: (-2, 'Name or service not known'), msgid: <mailman.0.1088024883.19332.kerry-tech(a)potomacalliance.us> Jun 23 17:08:05 2004 (19334) delivery to root(a)potomacalliance.us failed with code -1: (-2, 'Name or service not known') I've tried postfix and I've tried sendmail. Both give me the same message. Has anybody seen this before? I've never had this issue with an apt-get install mailman in the past. Strange. non-mailman mail goes to and from the domain just fine, so it does not appear to be a smtp (postfix|sendmail) configuration issue. Doug
