Hi Just some humble feedback on the response message; This is one area where I find users fall over and die and the complexity of the response and don't know what to do. [ And it is usually normal users that are trying to use it to unsubscribe ]. It is very techie. Little things might help, like a few actual examples, so that something like [address=<address>] means something to them, and spaces between the " < > " or " [ ] " so they are not confronted by strange signs. [] looks like a box. I am not a coder and so cannot help I am afraid but may be an upgrade would be to autogenerate an email with a series of clickable links that generate emails that work with the given addresses. ... with unsubscribe *RIGHT* up the top! Both Mailman and Majordomo

Queston, I have been unsuccessful at getting mailman and majordomo to run on the same host. I am using sendmail and the mailman mm-handler. Mailman is working great its just that majordomo is not. I did put an 'A' in the mailer table for alias expansion but that does not seem to work completely. If some body has done this and can share this info that would be great. I have been scouring the web to no avail. I need to transition majordomo out but I can not do it abruptly. Best Regards, Frank

no public archives possible

Hi all, I have a problem creating public archives on my server, running a multi-domain environment. Private archives are not problem. The appropriate domain is used in the links and the archives is accessible for all who have the password. But as soon as I switch the flag to "public", the links to the archive (from the several pages in Mailman webfrontend) point to the wrong domain. And when I want to see the archive, I only get "Access denied" (no matter, what domain I use). Apache log says: "client denied by server configuration: /var/lib/mailman/archives/public/<listname>" Heiner P.S.: Is there any way to limit a list to one domain? I don't need to have multiple lists with the same name but for different domains. Mailman "webcreate" page and proxy-ing problems

I've been running Mailman 2.0.x through a proxy to the /localhost/ so as to only need one single install of Mailman across a number of virtual domains for sometime now. it's worked well under 2.0.x... one install - many domains. I've recently upgraded to Python 2.3 and the Mailman 2.1.5 release....all the old /admin/ /listinfo/ etc.. pages continue to work with this scheme... However, the list creation page that was introduced with the 2.1 code base is lifting it's page host-name references out of the proxy, rather than the calling page. Submitting the form, or clicking the links on the bottom of the page all try to direct the browser to /localhost/. I dont see this behaviour on the other pages. Is there some mm_cfg.py setting that I've forgotten to override?... or a template I can force? I do have a add_virtualhost('apollo.host-ops.com', 'apollo.host-ops.com') in the bottom of the mm_cfg.py, and DEFAULT_EMAIL_HOST DEFAULT_URL_HOST are both set to the above inside Defaults.py, so I have no need to override them.... Any help would be appreciated.

Mailman forwards posts sent by nonmembers, but seems to completely ignore member posts

... what the subject says ... Config: Fedora Core 2, Sendmail, Mailman 2.1.4 I have configured a number of lists. I have configured my email as admin for the lists, as well as a member of the lists. When I send a post to a list, the list does nothing, whether I set the moderate tag or not. As moderator I am never asked to moderate the post. No one else on the list receives the post either. When I send a post as a nonmember (through different email address), I receive a moderation request for the post. Upon accepting the post, it is forwarded to the members of the list. I'm sure this is something small, but in technology small things can make big problems. Any help in this matter will be greatly appreciated. - Geoff Buchanan

mailman and hotmail fiters

Hi, I cuttently have mailman set up on my webserver. We're getting a lot of trouble with hotmail and its junk mail filters. Do you have any tip and tricks on getting mail delivered straight into the inbox without training. Thanks Matthew Wheeler

Viewing attachments prior to approval

Hello I would like to be able to view attachments prior to them being approved for distribution to the membership. I've searched the archives but have not been able to locate this information. The Content Filter is set at No, thus the attachment is not stripped. Much thanks for your assistance Valerie Brideau

error when running "arch"

I got the following error when rebuilding archives for a list (OpenBSD Mailman 2.1.5 installed from OpenBSD ports. It turned out the actual problem was a permissions problem on /var/spool/mailman/lists/[listname] (it was owned by root:_mailman instead of _mailman:_mailman). Should I file a bug about this (that the error isn't more specific)? It would be much more helpful if this said "Cannot write to /var/spool/mailman/lists/nord-modular" or something rather than "MemoryError". File Sharing Add-On?

Is there any sort of add-on or companion program that would allow mailman users an easy way to share files without actually mailing them? (Or, better yet, strip them out of emails and store them for download off the web). Thanks, Robert Schmid
