Multiple installations on same server with Exim4 and mailman

I would like to inquire whether or not anyone has successfully setup multiple installations of mailman-2.1.9 and exim4 on the same server. If you have would it be possible to see a copy of your exim.conf? I have tried everything I can think of and believe I have run up against some issues I cannot get around. Anyone have this actually working? Thanks Phil

Using Accepted <password> in the header

I have an announce-only list with one member who can post. I have it set up so that he is not moderated, all others are moderated. Currently, I discard moderated postings as well as non-member postings. I want to tighten the setup a bit more so that the list owner (who is the only non moderated user) has to send the Accepted <password> function in the email header. This is to prevent spoofing of the sender email address. How do I do this, while keeping the rest of the settings the same? (Discarding moderated member and non member postings). Not sure how to set that in the web interface and/or list_config file. Thanks, Pete

Multiple Installations on same server...

I am trying to setup mailman to run for virtual domains on a single server. I have followed the information provided in the manual very closely but am still having some issues. I am running: CentOS v4.4 2.6.9-42.0.3.EL I have installed Exim from the CentOS rpm: exim-4.43-1.RHEL4.5 Before attempting the Mailman install I confirmed that email was working properly on the server. I have since installed Mailman-2.1.9 from source first to function as a single domain list server. I tested that and everything worked fine. Now I have the following: I have installed mailman-2.1.9 into two seperate installs as follows: /virtual/listsrv.domain1.com/mailman /virtual/listsrv.domain2.com/mailman I have the follwing in httpd.conf: <VirtualHost 72.13.xxx.xxx:80> ServerAdmin webmaster(a)domain1.com DocumentRoot /virtual/listsrv.domain1.com/html ServerName listsrv.domain1.com ScriptAlias /mailman "/virtual/listsrv.domain1.com/mailman/cgi-bin/" Alias /pipermail/ /virtual/listsrv.domain1.com/mailman/archives/public/ </VirtualHost> <VirtualHost 72.13.xxx.xxx:80> ServerAdmin webmaster(a)domain2.com DocumentRoot /virtual/listsrv.domain2.com/html ServerName listsrv.domain2.com ScriptAlias /mailman "/virtual/listsrv.domain2.com/mailman/cgi-bin/" Alias /pipermail/ /virtual/listsrv.domain2.com/mailman/archives/public/ </VirtualHost> I have confirmed that from the web everything works properly. I can create new lists and modify them, however, I cannot get the configuration for exim to work for the multiple domain names. If someone could provide some insight I would greatly appreciate the help. I believe the way my system is setup is right but it just seems that the interaction between mailman and exim is broken. SPAM e-mail filtering

SPAM, as always is a hot topic and I may on the wrong forum, but... All the addresses on the website have been picked up by spammers, and they are sending a "picture" of a message that gets by filters. I can stop the SPAM to the mailman newslist with moderation, but my problem really falls to other user address (non-maillist) that I have no way to stop. I am using Spamassin 3.1.7 and cpanel e-mail filtering is the only tools I have available. I am not sure that they even check mail directed to the list? Can someone point me in the right direction? I

Python API

Hello, I am working on a customized user management system created in python/Zope. Currently I am using the bash script in mailman/bin to communicate with Mailman, but I like to do a little bit more (which is also possible with the "withlist" script) and in the main time speed thinks up by python directly. However, I want to be as sure as possible that my code does not break on software update. I tried to locate a document with the python API, but I didn't find it. It appears that the Mailman API is defined in MailList.py. Is this true? How stable is this API? With kind regards, Paul Gevers

Duplicate settings across multiple lists

Hello, all I need to create multiple listserv that have exactly the same settings, except the names. I'm not sure that it is possible to duplicate settings across multiple listserv. Mails not writing to archive immediately

I've just been mailed by one of my users to say that the archive for my list is not up to date. Having just checked prior to sending this, I found that by clicking on the "Date" link for this month, the last message written to it is nearly a week old. Downloading the Gzip'd text file (which never actually shows the correct size - any ideas?) brings me forward to only approximately 24 hours behind. Does anybody know why this is - I'm assuming messages that get posted to the list should also hit the archive at the same time. Rgds MD

notice to non-member submissions

Hi all, I am running a small mailman list and have a couple of non-member submissions (99.5% spam, but occasionally a genuine message from a member using an alternative email address) per day. The default of mailman is "hold" and at the end of the day I discard them after a check. Recently I noticed that such senders are being notified that their submission is being "on hold" and I would like to stop that. Is there an option somewhere to do so and keeping "hold" as default?
