I would like a web interface for users to create lists, without giving them access to the master mailman password. Is there anything that would work for this? I know I've seen it before, but it may have been a custom web application. Thanks, Robert Everson

Problems starting mailman

To all: I have configured mailman on Solaris 10 working with Postfix. I am currently receiving the following error message while trying to start mailman: Traceback (most recent call last): File "/local/software/mailman/bin/mailmanctl", line 547, in ? main() File "/local/software/mailman/bin/mailmanctl", line 389, in main lock = acquire_lock(force) File "/local/software/mailman/bin/mailmanctl", line 213, in acquire_lock lock = acquire_lock_1(force) File "/local/software/mailman/bin/mailmanctl", line 205, in acquire_lock_1 hostname, pid, tempfile = get_lock_data() File "/local/software/mailman/bin/mailmanctl", line 173, in get_lock_data pid = int(parts[-1]) ValueError: null byte in argument for int() I know this has something to do with creating or accessing lock files, however, I do not understand why. As the mailman user, I can create/access files in the data directory. I think the permissions are ok? Anyone have any suggestions? -- Randall Svancara Systems Administrator 509-335-7093

Adding old (majordomo) postings to a Mailman archive

Hi all Before changing to Mailman our list ran on majordomo. I still have those postings, in my IMAP mailbox, as a seperate directory. My question is, how can I add those postings to the running list? Chronological overlap is minimal. Only for the final month there are postings on both sides. Even if I have to delete the ones from the old archive, that's not a problem. regards Visvanath

I'm coordinator of an event and would like to use the Mailman. How can I do it? I don't have a web server and my computer isn't Linux, is Windows. Excuse the English full of errors.

Mailman DNS Issues

I recently installed mailman on a new Ubuntu server. The setup went through without a hitch ... Or so I thought. When I try to log into my installation of mailman using a browser: http://www.myhostname.com/cgi-bin/mailman/admin, there is a 404 error page. However, when I go to http://myipaddress/cgi-bin/mailman/admin It works fine. Is this a DNS issue? The only error message I get when starting my server is the following: NameVirtualHost myipaddress has no VirtualHosts mailman

Moderation and Uncaught Bounce messages not being sent

Our mailman server stopped sending out the following notifications: Uncaught Bounce notifications Notification a sender gets when a post has been moderated Notifications to moderators and list admins of any kind I have NO idea what might have precipitated this. I'm not even sure when it happened. Can someone start me in a direction toward finding out? Thanks Christopher

New Mailman Installation

I've just started Mailman on a new Fedora 7 box. It's been quite a while since I used MM, my previous box ran on RH9. There are some things that I need to be refreshed and I haven't found them yet in the docs. 1. When creating a new list, must the maillist mail addresses be created manually? Can they be aliased to existing e-mail addresses? 2. I seem to remember that MM could be configured for broadcast only, i.e., for announcement to a fixed audience. I don't see that option in the admin screens. How would MM be configured for this use? Any info will be appreciated. Ubuntu/ISPConfig/Postfix/Mailman Installation Issues

I recently installed the following: Ubuntu Apache ISPConfig Postfix Mailman As far as I know, Ubuntu, Apache, ISPConfig, and Postfix are running ok. I verified this by: - ssh'ing into the ubuntu server - logging into the ISPConfig pages on the server using a browser - sending/receiving email through the Postfix server I believe I installed mailman properly using this guide: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Mailman However, when I try to log into my installation of mailman using a browser: http://www.myhostname.com/cgi-bin/mailman/admin, there is a 404 error.
