Hi i am having a problem with mailman migration. I am able to shift 2.0 to 2.1.5 recently in centOS 3 server. Everything is working just fine. But the problem is when people using reply to from there MUA. If they use reply to from MUA its assign address xyz(a)domian.com but it should xyz(a)lists.domain.com The setting in Defaults.py and mm_cfg.py is according to manual. Every time people reply to they need to manually change the reply to address. Please help me. -ekram

Automatic rejection on message size?

Hello - I've scoured the wiki, FAQ, and mailing list archives but perhaps I'm not using the right keywords... I'm looking to have Mailman (2.1.9) automatically reject messages that exceed our pre-set size limitation. Why? We have a large number of users who cut/paste debug logs, code snippets, SVN output, and all manner of text into their messages. These are NOT attachments; they're text in the message body that is not MIME encoded. I manage two dozen or so lists, and every day I get at least 10 moderated messages in my to-be-moderated queues that are all there because of size overruns. This gets really tedious, since all I do is "Reject" them with a message about their post exceeding the size limit. I see no obvious way that I can set a list (or the whole system, for that matter) to auto-reject with a message based on size of the message. It would actually seem to me that this would be a desirable setting to have overall - is there a recipe for modifying the filter/ actions so that I can make this happen? I'm not a python wizard (or even neophyte) and I have very little understanding of the internals of Mailman at this point, so I'd kindly ask that any hints someone has to offer could be worded in a way that is approachable by a skilled *NIX admin but not a developer or Mailman wizard. :-) Thanks! Can't hide sender of message

Hello. I use Mailman version 2.1.11.cp3. I have set to "yes" the option "Hide the sender of a message, replacing it with the list address (Removes From, Sender and Reply-To fields)". Now subscribers are receiving e-mail from the mailing list and from the author of the e-mail message. Any ideas are greatly appreciated. Changing the host mailman is running on

I've been pawing through the docs and the config and I can't quite figure out what to do: we recently moved mailman to a new system. The sysadmin got mailman working and it seems OK. BUT: all the cgi-admin machinery has the *old* address [not just the emails, but the list-admin-screens internally reference the old server, so if I click on a "submit" it goes to the wrong system]. I've looked through the list-config via bin/config_list -o - LIST | grep OLDSERVER and I get no hits at all, so I don't know where the old server's hostname is being hidden. the mm_cfg.ph just does 'fdqn' for the URL_HOST, but that seems OK [I think] -- the *admin* [rather than list-specific] links seems to correctly poitn to the NEWSERVER. Hello, I am wondering if you could help me with a problem I am having regarding a list serv that has recently been set up. It seems as though some members of the group are receiving a very messy post (ie., characters do not all turn out and spaces are missing). This, of course, is making it difficult for our members to read. Some members however are receiving the message as it was sent (no problems). When I compose the messages, I am careful to take all the formatting out (using word) and then paste the unformatted announcement in my email (novell email). Perhaps you could offer a few suggestions. Would it be better, for example, for me to use g-mail to send out the messages? Many thanks for all your help. and, if you are using spf, you need to fix your mail servers. if you 'transparently' forward without changing 'from' address, you get stuff like this. Global whitelist for all mailinglists?

Hello everybody, I'm administrating a mailman installation with nearly 20 different mailinglists. And each mailinglist has it't own whitelist to accept mails from non members (accept_these_non_members). If I got a new email address that should be accepted from all lists I have to log in 20 times and to add this new email address to the whitelist 20 times. That costs much time... Is there a possiblity to have a global whitlists? Then changes only have to be made in this one whitelist and then are active in all lists. Maybe anyone does know a solution?
