Thanks in advance for any replies. Despite scouring the web and trying the many different solutions that seem to be offered to this problem I have be unable to fix it. Is there a way of tracing the cause in my particular instance? The entry in maillog does not say how to tweak postfix! If someone could post the comand line that works on a freebsd 7.2 system which they know to be correct I will try that again. Hiding list address

Hi, I've been asked to setup a couple mailing lists we have at work so that, when somebody sends a mail to mylist(a)example.com and one of the members of the list click on "Reply all" the reply doesn't get into the list again. Is there any way to hide the list email address (the To: header) so that mail clients doesn't see it? Thanks a lot for your help. -- Matias Emanuel Surdi.

Mass Removal of Subscribers from Mailing List

This is a new attempt to receive a meaningful reply to above subject. I am not able to use Mailman commands on my server, as Mailman is integrated in cpanel of the hosting server I am subscribed to. I need to remove all subscriber email addresses in a given mailing list to then mass-subscribe a number of new email addresses. As the existing list is long and I do not have a backup of it on my computer, I cannot copy them into the field displayed for mass removal. It is possible to mark all given entries in the 'unsub' column individually but that takes ages to do. Is there a way of marking them in one go? Herward

Hi all I have a mailing list with mailman 2.1.5: the list is moderate and I would like that the alert sent by mailman were not every day but in real time (I would like the admin will receive the alert everytime somebody send a message to the list). Someone know if it is possinle and how? NNTP server for "local" newsgroups ?

In another thread we were talking about Mailman to web forum options. As Mailman can manage NNTP I wondered whether anyone here had come across an NNTP server for "local" (not usenet) newsgroups ? One that doesn't require root access and could be put on a "hosted" Linux site. I have doubts that such a thing exists but if it does then I thought someone here may have come across it. :-) Regards, John.

Increasing the Speed of Email Delivery

I'm currently using a dedicated cPanel server with the following specs. Xeon 3060 - Dual Core 2.4 GHz - 250GB SATA-II HDD - 2GB DDR2 RAM; RedHat/cPanel It currently takes me about 6 hours to deliver 800K emails. It's an announce only list with 20 sublists of 40K addresses. I will be upgrading to: Xeon 3450 - SATA - Quad Core 2.66 GHz - 250 GB IDE/SATA, 7200rpm - 4GB DDR3 RAM; RedHat/cPanel and wanted to know if my email deliver would be much faster. Any assistance/direction with server configuration would be greatly appreciated. -Derrick Wooden

I would suggest that, in the absence of these, you get the users to bloody-well do their housekeeping themselves. Point them to the options page, if necessary, pre-fill a URI with their email address, so something like: http://lists.example.org/mailman/options/listfoo/foo@example.com where they can change their name, and see which other lists that email address is a member of. People asking me -- as listadmin -- to change their subscriptions usually get something like "mail me the request from both the old and new address so i know it's not nefarious, or visit <http://lists.example.org/help#swapsub> for instructions on how to do it yourself." Web access to Mailman.

I am new to Mailman so there is something I didn't consider in the recent web forum to Mailman discussions. The existing Mailman web forum facility. It seems to me that the majority of the Mailman to web work has already been done. All that is needed is a "new post", and "reply" button, addition to our mailing list archives page. Admittedly "bare bones" but IMO a big help if people wanted to post via the web in preference to an emailer. Regards, John.

Lindsay and Mark: Thanks for your advice on the broadcast message and how to add the appropriate header. I guess my next question would be if it is possible at all to send such a broadcast message to all lists (and thus all list members) at one time. I have 60 + distinct/unique lists and would not want to send the same message sixty times if I did not have to - Any ideas? Thanks again - Brandon
