Running two list with same email prefix

Hi all, I'm running a mail server with Debian Lenny, MTA is Postfix and i will use postfix-to-mailma.py script to run list I would set up Mailman for running mailing list with same email prefix on different domains, obvious with different list names For example we have ml.domain1.com and ml.domain2.net, i would like to have LISTADDRESS LISTNAME tech(a)ml.domain1.com tech-ml.domain1.com tech(a)ml.domain.2.net tech-ml.domain2.net In this way i can have the same address on differente domains and Mailman (my version is 2.1.11) can distinguish between lists because the list name is different. The list name will be also used to access web interface, so we have http://ml.domain1.com/mailman/admin/tech-ml.domain1.com http://ml.domain2.net/mailman/admin/tech-ml.domain2.net Is possible to accomplish this task? Any idea?

Hide list address?

Hi, Is there any way to configure Mailman such that, for an announcement-only type list, when a message is sent to the list, the To: shows the member's address, rather than the list address? Some list software allows the ability to hide the list address itself, so that address is not advertised. I couldn't find any configuration specific to that.

Add "sender's name/email" to BODY of mail as header?

I want all mails sent to the list to come from the list's email address... But, in this case, if the user forgets to sign their name at the bottom of their mail body, effectively the mail to the list is anonymous...! Is there a way to add the user name (or email address) to the top of each mail so that the mails have the name of the sender, while the mail itself comes from the list address? I have looked high and low for an answer, but noone seems to have the solution. Thank you! Mal

Mailman CGI Error-Group mismatch error

Hi, I received the following error this morning. So I rerun configure again with the following command: ./configure --with-cgi-id=apache --prefix=/var/mailman. I'm still getting the same error. Is there any place that I can look for so that I can debug this problem better? Perhaps, looking at the config history file or something. Any other places that I can check the cause of this error? "Mailman CGI error!!! The Mailman CGI wrapper encountered a fatal error. This entry is being stored in your syslog: Group mismatch error. Mailman expected the CGI wrapper script to be executed as group "nobody", but the system's web server executed the CGI script as group "apache". Try tweaking the web server to run the script as group "nobody", or re-run configure, providing the command line option `--with-cgi-gid=apache'." Thanks Mary

Setting MIME as default for new Non-Digest subscribers

Hi - I have searched FAQ and archives to find an answer. Hoping you can help. I have a new list (with previously imported addresses) for announcements only, and wish these announcements to be received immediately. I set the defaults to allow non-digest and to not allow digest. I wish to send out announcements in html, and so wish to make the default for new subscribers be MIME. While I see a setting under Digest Options (MIME_is_Default_Digest), I don't see any equivalent option under Non-Digest Options... and new subscribers continue to come in as plain text. QUESTIONS: In order to avoid having to manually change this option for each existing subscriber, is there a way to force all existing subscribers to receive MIME in Non-Digest mode? If not, is there a way to force all NEW subscribers to be enrolled with MIME as their default? Also, is there a way to "lock" the MIME switch on, so that users who try to change their option to plain text will be prevented from doing so? Thanks - Steve

Changing the received time on an outgoing authorized email message?

When authorizing a moderated list posting is it possible to change the date/time on the outgoing authorized list message to the time it was approved instead of the message showing the time it was first received by mailman? Thanks Paul

limitation in name of the account between the mail client and mailman?

RHEL 5.3 postfix-2.3.3 mailman-2.1.9 I have a problem with the mail client (thunderbird and Outlook Express). When sending an email to the list from the mail client and the client has set the name of the big personal information does not commands. If the name of the account of the personal information I set it up shorter length also works perfect. Is there any length limitation in name of the account between the mail client and mailman?

about address format

A list member wants to change her subscriptions from @xxx.edu to @mail.xxx.edu. She is unable to do so globally, received this message: > Bad email address provided Member name successfully changed. Later she unsubscribed from a different list and on attempting to re-subscribe with the new address (@mail.xxx.edu) she got this error: The email address you supplied is not valid. (E.g. it must contain an`@'.) Any suggestions for this type of mail address? (Didn't find anything helpful in the archives) ... and, yes I can manually subscribe her. unable to post messages to my list

i have created a list with the following command in the command line /etc/newlist mtech-cs-2010 anil_moogala(a)dcis.uohyd.ernet.in password and then i have added the aliases to the /etc/aliases file... then i got a mail in my mail box saying The mailing list `mtech-cs-2010' has just been created for you. The following is some basic information about your mailing list. Your mailing list password is: ***** You need this password to configure your mailing list. You also need it to handle administrative requests, such as approving mail if you choose to run a moderated list. You can configure your mailing list at the following web page: http://dcis.uohyd.ernet.in/mailman/admin/mtech-cs-2010 The web page for users of your mailing list is: http://dcis.uohyd.ernet.in/mailman/listinfo/mtech-cs-2010 You can even customize these web pages from the list configuration page. However, you do need to know HTML to be able to do this. There is also an email-based interface for users (not administrators) of your list; you can get info about using it by sending a message with just the word `help' as subject or in the body, to: mtech-cs-2010-request(a)dcis.uohyd.ernet.in To unsubscribe a user: from the mailing list 'listinfo' web page, click on or enter the user's email address as if you were that user.
