Hide list address?

Hi, Is there any way to configure Mailman such that, for an announcement-only type list, when a message is sent to the list, the To: shows the member's address, rather than the list address? Some list software allows the ability to hide the list address itself, so that address is not advertised. I couldn't find any configuration specific to that.

Add "sender's name/email" to BODY of mail as header?

I want all mails sent to the list to come from the list's email address... But, in this case, if the user forgets to sign their name at the bottom of their mail body, effectively the mail to the list is anonymous...! Is there a way to add the user name (or email address) to the top of each mail so that the mails have the name of the sender, while the mail itself comes from the list address? I have looked high and low for an answer, but noone seems to have the solution. Thank you! Mal

Hi, I received the following error this morning. So I rerun configure again with the following command: ./configure --with-cgi-id=apache --prefix=/var/mailman. I'm still getting the same error. Hi - I have searched FAQ and archives to find an answer. Hoping you can help. I have a new list (with previously imported addresses) for announcements only, and wish these announcements to be received immediately. I set the defaults to allow non-digest and to not allow digest. I am running mailman on one machine which hosts several different virtual hosts. However what I configured as the "mailman" virtual host is "lists.myhost.com". Hello, I am trying to get postfix working with mailman and I just can’t seem to get it to work. Essentially what I want is this: My mailing domain is students.wesleyseminary.edu. For some reason when I moved the mailman configuration a few months ago I had to add /etc/mailman/aliases to the alias_maps e.g.,: alias_maps = hash:/etc/aliases hash:/etc/mailman/aliases whereas on the old installation I didn't. Since this is on a server that can fail over to another server that has the IMAP configuration which doesn't need /etc/mailman/aliases I would like to see if there is a workaround so that they both have the same postfix configuration. hi i installed mailman and i think it a good solution for me however, when i send emails to the default mail address none of subscribers gets the email. when i check the inbox of that mail i dont see the emails i sent there - i guess mailman pull them. please advice barnea

Hello all, I have had a couple of list subscribers fail to post message to their lists. I tracked down the logs and this seems to be the common theme. I Googled prvs= and found info on BATV. Is there a solution for users to subscribe to one list and automatically subscribe to the big list? What are the security implications of adding apache to the mailman group or just using sudo in my script?

Making every subscriber get the digest

Sorry I realized I hadn't sent a followup email which is why you might find my reply below a little confusing. Here is that followup: I've got a little more information. I noticed that there was a lot of "deferred" postfix connections. Is there an easy way to send the incoming request to the non-existent queue to /dev/null until I can get a hold of the admin of the server sending me this? I'm tempted to create the list that they are trying to reach and then add a member translated to /dev/null in postfix but wondering if there might be even an easier way? Mailman's 'smtp' log is with Mailman's other logs in /var/log/mailman/, but this is not the issue if you have no files in the out/ queue. The large number of files in the in/ and archive/ queues indicates you have a mail loop of some sort or you are the victim of a DOS attack. Stop Mailman. Move those queues aside in their entirety (e.g. mv /var/spool/mailman/in somewhere/else), and examine the messages with bin/show_qfiles. For some reason our Mailman installation has gotten very slow. One email distro took about 17 hours according to the user. There is data flow as I can see by running the "mmdsr" stat script. I googled and found something about qfiles can grow too large but don't have any in my /var/lib/mailman directory. On the server lists # ./find_member somemember somemember(a)someplace.edu found in: icrc somemember(a)someplace.edu&nbsp found in: icrc lists # ./remove_members icrc somemember(a)someplace.edu&nbsp [1] 11103 -bash: nbsp: command not found The list owner removed them from the list, but they still show up on the server.
