Currently, a client of mine has a mailman list running since 2006 on a server with a company they no longer do business with. We're wanting to consolidate resources for their organization and migrate them to a cPanel web host that supports mailman. Is there any concern about mailman versions between servers or anything else I might not be thinking of? What's the best way to go about moving them to another server supporting mailman? Injecting old lists into a new mailman aliases setup

Hi, I have followed http://wiki.list.org/display/DOC/How+do+I+move+a+list+to+a+different+server…. and got to, withlist -l -r fix_url listname but I find that afetr running that the lists info has not been put into in /etc/mailman/aliases file (Redhat default location) so obviously I cant send to the lists.... Also is there a way to tell mailman to look into ~lists and do them all at once? regards

archives of sibling lists

I have set up (for a transitory activity lasting about one month) a couple of lists (A and B) with real subscribers, and an umbrella list C with no members, but having A and B as sibling lists. Minimal Mailboxes Question

The site list is not used for anything other than processing reminders and other administrative functions. What I need to know is what names are required for proper function. Email commands aren't working

Mailmanit doesn't seem to be changing the settings of user options by email commands as it should. Subscribing is excellent, so I *know* it is receiving the commands by email correctly, and I am CC'ing the emails to myself so that I *know* they are going to Mailman in the correct format, and I *know* they are going to the right address! Anonymous emails with the sender information

Dear All Is there a way to use the anonymous emails feature but retain the sender information in the name and reply to fields ? To get around spam protection systems I want all emails to come from the list email address but that list members reply to the poster. Many thanks in advance Nigel

mail based moderation

Hi, we are using mailman to manage several mailing lists. I'm looking for a way to moderate emails through email interface when I'm offsite. So I manage to use the -request address with the confirmxxxxxx topic from a notebook, but using my iPhone, I can't see attached email received in moderation notification from -owner, so I don't have any confirm id... Is there a workaround or do I missed something ? Thanks, David

editing archives html page

To recover disk space I remove the archives on quite a few of my announcement lists. When I went to the "Go to archives page" I was surprised to see the Archive, View By, etc. listing of messages that were no longer there. Is there a command to clean that page so that it reflects the messages that are still to be seen. Hi, I am trying to create a new list via the mailman web interface, it appears to create a list but inbound emails to the list(s) are failing saying, user unknown in local recipient table. I am assuming that the web interface should add the list controls to the /etc/aliases file? it looks like it isnt... Either that or I suspect its meant to add to a file in /etc/mailman/aliases? and re-generate a /etc/mailman/aliases.db? and the above path should be in main.cf? so its found? However … [View More]

Hi, I help moderate a few lists where certain topics are not permitted. I thought it would be possible to flag a message for moderation based on text found in the body of the message, but I can't immediately see how one might do this. Presumably the administrivia scan uses a technique like this. Is it possible to do this in Mailman? Geoff.

Email interface not processing any email

I've installed mailman 2.1.9 via the yum repository on Centos 5 according to the Redhat documentation. The web interface is working, however emails sent to any list are being delivered to but not processed by mailman. There are no entries in the mailman logs to indicate anything is happening. The postfix log says the messages are being delivered to the lists. The mailman service is running and the mailman cron jobs are processing. --William Pearson

Starting about a month ago, out company began having major problems with our listservs. Initially, we just couldn't send e-mails to one of them with no bounce notifications. Then one day, all the bounce notifications came all at one. Then other listservs also stopped functioning, or refuse to function when certain e-mails e-mail them.
