Domain name

Hello, I am having an issue with the configured domain name for my mailman server. The dome name does not have a www apendation on it it is xxx.chnt.gtwy.dcn we also have a virtual name setup as xxx.gtwy.dcn. The problem is that when I create a new mailing list, the domain name referred to in the email sent out to users is truncated to .gtwy.dcn. This cuts off the first part of the needed domain name. I know I can go in and under the general option fix this, but is there a way to set it so that it will not truncate the domain name automaticaly. This way users can create their lists, without this added configuration needed?

moderation flag flips off automatically

Hi, I have a question about moderation that I was not able to find an answer to, even though I searched quite a bit. I am running a mailing list where I have placed a single rogue user under moderation by turning on the moderation flag for this user. When I leave the interface, go back in, the flag is set for the user, as I want it. However, each time a mail arrives from the user, the flag somehow magically flips itself, the message goes through, and when I check the user data, the moderation flag is off now. I cannot find out how this is possible - I checked the whitelist (that is only for non-members, I think) and the user is not on it. Any ideas where I should look for a problem in my settings? Mailman and Postfix

Hello, I am new to mail servers in general and so I apologize if my questions is a simple one. I setup mailman on a rhel5 server and it seems to be running fine with the exception that incoming mail is not being accepted and forwarded to the test list I setup. I can create lists and subscribe users and mailman sends the confirmation out to the user, yet if I send a message to the mailing list I get nothing. I don't see it registered on the /var/log/maillog or any errors in the mailman logs. The message itself is not being rejected its just sort of vanishing. Thank you, Regards, Ben Joyner

Mailman and Google Groups.

Hello, everyone. I have two questions for the group. Question 1: I have set up (or attempted to set up) five discussion groups on the Internet using Mailman running on an Apple with Mac OS X server. The process hasn't been as smooth as I thought or as easy as Apple advertised. With this in mind, I would like to get some help with this. Lists are running for the most part with few members and some (not all) receiving mail from the lists. However, there are those who don't seem to receive. In addition there have been problems related to greylisting and other such phenomena that fly above my head. Is anyone with experience on both Mailman and Mac OS X server available for consulting ? Question 2: Assuming I were to choose to abandon this project (hosting the lists and running Mailman) is anyone aware if I can transfer the lists to Google Groups while maintaining the same domain name ? In other words, the lists would be hosted by Google Groups but under the same names and domain they now have. I have been told that this can be done if I sign up for a Gooble Apps business account. As a business account user I would have the ability to create discussion groups using Google Groups but do so under my own domain name. Does anyone have any experience with this ? lists lost labels (and footers) after moving mailman to a new server

Hi, We have recently upgraded our web server to one with bigger capacity. Actual moving occurred earlier today and was done by our hosting provider (since we don't have access to root to our dedicated server). Moving involved transferring all services active, including our mailman lists. Once moving has been completed we can see the lists have been actually moved, apparently correctly, configuration parameters remain the same as they were before, but, curiously enough, the messages are distributed without the usual label and without the footer, even though both label and footer are well defined in the configuration page and were working nicely in the old server configuration. According to the hosting provider they transferred everything to the new server, including all parameters of the list. They have been investigating the cause of these missing labels and footers but so far could not find any obvious cause. Things that I have tried so far: 1) Deleting the label, saving parameters, re-installing the label, saving parameters. Doesn't work, messages continue to be posted without label. 2) I created a new list in the new server, created a label for it, and, in this case, messages are posted with label in this newly created list in the new server location I am using mailman 2.1.11 I have been searching for similar posts before posting this to the list. I couldn't find any. Problem with duplicate emails

Hello I created two mailing lists on my website: newsletter(a)iranravi.com And: iranravi(a)iranravi.com Also, IranRAVI(a)IranRAVI.com is a member of newsletter(a)IranRAVI.com. That means, when I send an email to Newsletter(a)iranravi.com, if someone is not the member of this group, but is the member of IranRAVI(a)IranRAVI.com, this person will also receive the email. In fact, one group is only for sending newsletters and the other group is for discussing about various matters. now I have a problem. When I send an email, if someone is the member of both groups, this person will receive two copies of the email. Is there any way I can prevent duplicate emails? I saw a choice in General options: Prevent Duplicate Emails. I thought mailman would delete the duplicates automatically, but it seems not to be the case. Please help. Thank you

bounce processing / bounce score

I am trying to determine how many bounces are occurring and to who, but cannot figure out where to look. Specifically I have one user who is not receiving notes and I am wondering if it is at her end or mine. I went to the administrator panel, the 2 most obvious possibilities seemed to be "bounce processing" and "membership management" but could not find anything. How can I see bounced mail? Dave
