Ubuntu 20.04.1 LTS / apache 2.4.41 / postfix 3.4.13 I am following the installation guidance at https://docs.mailman3.org/en/latest/install/virtualenv.html#setup-virtualenv Question: where should I place the available <https://gitlab.com/mailman/mailman-suite/tree/master> mailman-suite repo in my filesystem?

Removal of Line Breaks in Replies to Digest Messages

Okay, upon reflection I think I figured out what happened here. I replied to an existing thread but deleted the entirety of the message thread and changed the subject entirely. I thought that started a new message thread but perhaps the list software registers that as a reply to an existing thread. I organize my email client by date and not by thread so I would not see this. Apologizes to all if this is the case. I'm told by my list subscriber the following: a. He thinks that the Digest message formatting is messed-up as it originally comes from the list, but he is not sure (reply messages might be messing up the formatting). b. He is using iPhone and Outlook for Apple email clients. c. He is also experiencing quote marks (") and apostrophes (') being turned into question marks (?) throughout the text of digest messages. Is this mess a function of his Apple email clients, or a problem that rests with the Mailman list management software? CPU %-usage surge associated with list archives

Hello everyone, I am observing increased CPU(%) usage whenever a Mailman User Service runs. The journal tells me that SELinux is preventing httpd from map access on the file /var/lib/mailman/archives/private/<list>/<date>/<page>.html. A setroubleshoot service follows. This cycle repeats quickly, resulting in a surge in CPU (%) usage. Why am I getting AVC denials {map} associated with list archives? Any ideas on how I should stabilize this? Regards Onyeibo

cPanel mailing list accumulating space

Hi all, I have 3 mailing lists sent up for myself and my wife, so we both get emails for 1 address. I have limited room on my server space and I want all emails to pass through and none to be archived. [image: image.png] I have got help on this list before for this issue, https://www.mail-archive.com/mailman-users@python.org/msg72230.html _but_ the lists are still archiving, see picture above, This might not sound like much but I only have about 30MB to play with my allotment so it's *very *tight. I can ask my isp to delete and have done ion the past but I want to set it up so it's 100% pass through. Currently, the lists are setup as follows: [image: image.png] Non-digest options -> scrub_nondigestis set to No. I have tried the cpanel forum before with no help given. How are things getting stored? Any help much appreciated. Tom.

Migrating Mailman Lists from One Server to Another

Greeting, Is there a recommended a stable or reliable approach for migrating Mailman lists from one server to another? I have tried two methods already and, in both cases, the resulting lists were buggy. The source lists are not live (i.e. old server/host is no longer accessible). However, we copied all files/folders from the previous /var/lib/mailman/ to a folder in our new server. I guess the scenario rules out Method-#1 described on https://wiki.list.org/DOC/4.70%20How%20do%20I%20change%20the%20name%20of%20… I also tried the steps illustrated on https://debian-administration.org/article/567/Migrating_mailman_lists. That gave me lots of errors pertaining to permissions despite running 'check_perms -f' (makes me wonder what the recommended permissions/ownership for files in /var/lib/mailman/ would be). In the end, the lists were visible via the web interface but I couldn't log into administration from there (I got an error page ... something about Mailman being buggy). Some other pages wouldn't open too. I got similar results after following https://www.mail-archive.com/mailman-developers@python.org/msg03127.html Method #2 at https://wiki.list.org/DOC/4.70%20How%20do%20I%20change%20the%20name%20of%20… sounds appealing. I tried the script but python2 was looking for a path module. Is that script still supported? In any case, I'd appreciate any help I can get to bring our lists back online. Regards Onyeibo

The pain I had over the years was the mailing lists archiving and consequently me running out of my allotted space. All good now, I think, thanks!

Thanks for telling me about mailmanhost.com brian, My mailing lists are used for my wife and me so we can get emails from the school and kids activities with a single parents@ address, very low volume. Similar for utility bills@ address. So such a solution is overkill. I see my original picture showing my settings was excluded, here it is: https://snipboard.io/hxpWac.jpg Mark, the kids clubs and utility billing companies mostly send HTML emails and.or pdf newsletters. I am unsure how setting Digest options -> digestible to No would help? There are no digests sent anyway, my wife has no reason to go into the options, etc. It's surprising to me that mailman has not considered this simple use-case and as a result, it's over-engineered for this use case. Most people think it should not accumulate emails with all these options set and the solution is to ask one's isp to clear out space every so often. For there to be no option that 100% stops accumulation at this stage of the products life is a little bizarre and silly imho. Would mailman consider adding a bypass option so it simply forwards the emails to the 2 email addresses on the mailing list? Maybe there is a CPanel option to do this other than mailing lists, I have not found it. Forwarders do not alow 1 address to be forwarded to 2 as far as I can see. As always, thanks for yer paitence.
