admins post to a list held for moderation

Hi, I am seeing post to Mailman2 lists being held for moderation yet they are sent by an admin of that list. I cannot fathom why. Max recipients is set to 10 and its only 3 lists at once in this case. What other things can I check on that might be causing this please? TY. regards Steven

Changing Install Location

I'd like to change my Mailman-2.x location from /usr/local/mailman to /usr/local/mailman2 so that I can install Mailman3 in /usr/local/mailman. Can not delete a mailing list with error.

Dear Mailman-Users, ---(Issue)--- A mailing list can not deleted on its Administrative interface of browser which ends up showing the following error message. ---(Steps to reproduce)--- Press "Delete this mailing list(requires confirmation)" ---> Press "Delete this list" ---> The error message page pops up on browser. ---(Error message page)--- Bug in Mailman version 2.1.29 We're sorry, we hit a bug! Please inform the webmaster for this site of this problem. Printing of traceback and other systemd information has been explicitly inhibited, but the webmaster can find this information in the Mailman error logs or the web server logs. ----- Just in case, I checked if the parameter below in /etc/mailman/mm_cfg.py is set to "Yes". # grep OWNERS_CAN_DELETE_THEIR_OWN_LISTS /etc/mailman/mm_cfg.py OWNERS_CAN_DELETE_THEIR_OWN_LISTS = Yes (Environment) Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8 mailman-2.1.29-11.module+el8.4.0+8277+5e2c6e6e.x86_64 Does anyone in the list know what is going on? different domain name for mail addresses and web pages

Hi there, i would like to use Mailman 2.1 for my own mailing lists. I don't know if this is important, but I am using ISPConfig as hosting software. Mailman is installed as a module there. I would like to have a making list address: users(a)mydomain.com There's already a web site named mydomain.com which should remain. Unfortunately Redirect directives in the .htaccess file of that web site do not work, maybe due to the "cgi-bin" in the Mailmanb websites' URLs. So what I need is a way to put the web sites for the mailing lists into another domain (let's say mails.mydomain.com) while the mail addresses for the mailing lists still use the domain mydomain.org. Can that be accomplished with mailman? Maybe my question is already answered somewhere, but I did not find it. Please bear with me if I am re-asking an old question. Maybe I just didn't know what to search for, exactly... Best regards Thomas

Illegal BOM?

Hi all I am using Mailman in a cPanel instalation - Mailman 2.1.33 on cPanel 98.0.6 - and occasionally receive an error message like the one below: address(a)domain.ch host mx01.servicehoster.ch [194.191.24.200] SMTP error from remote mail server after end of data: 550 Headers contain illegal byte order mark (BOM) Reporting-MTA: dns; my.provider.eu This happened today with 5 (of about 150) subscribers on 2 receiving servers, but only every few days - not for every message. The message for which these complaints had been received today have a header line "X-Mailer: iPhone Mail (18G82)", but I think I have also seen others before. So far I could not yet find out why these messages are refused by the receiving server, it could be a Mailman issue or an issue of the mail program used by the author of the message. Any ideas what could be done to prevent these errors? Comcast problems

Beginning maybe a few days ago, Comcast is rejecting ALL mailing list email to them. The error I'm getting is <j....(a)comcast.net>: host mx1.comcast.net[96.114.157.80] said: 550 5.1.0 Invalid sender domain (in reply to MAIL FROM command) I can't find the details of the MAIL FROM in the bounce message. The handling of the message was: Return-Path: <gpa-bounces(a)lists.ripplingwater.us> Received: from pdx1-mailman01.dreamhost.com (pdx1-mailman01.dreamhost.com [IPv6:::1]) by pdx1-mailman01.dreamhost.com (Postfix) with ESMTP id 02F3E20460; Sun, 29 Aug 2021 06:24:42 -0700 (PDT) X-Original-To: gpa(a)lists.ripplingwater.us Delivered-To: gpa-ripplingwater.us(a)pdx1-mailman01.dreamhost.com and in the maze of headers there's Action: failed Status: 5.1.0 Remote-MTA: dns; mx1.comcast.net Diagnostic-Code: smtp; 550 5.1.0 Invalid sender domain But nothing I could find in the message had the SMTP exchange so I could see what the MAILFROM was [some SMTP servers put in a header line for the MAIL FROM, but I guess not comcast] I'm assuming that the MAIL FROM was the mailman server and I don't understand why the mail from should suddenly be a problem -- it's happened on two different domains of mine so I *THINK* all the damn DNS nonsense is right, but I can't guess. I just wanted to check what the MAIL FROM would be before I go and get a ticket asking the ISP why their domain has suddently become "Invalid".
