Editing Mailman's text files

Hi. I'm a new member of this group but have been running an email list with Mailman for a long time. I am now setting a list up again and want to give a "look and feel" to the list which has more branding of my user group as a whole, and less of a Mailman-feel. I seem to remember that besides editing the public HTML pages, it is possible to edit the text files which Mailman automatically sends out for certain needs (such as 'approve.txt', 'adminsubscribeack.txt', 'invite.txt', and so on). A. Is this still the case? B. If so, where can I find them? (in case they've changed from the ones I have from long ago). C. Where do they need putting, so that Mailman can use them again? It's important that I should tell you that Mailman on my webhosts servers is a "server-wide" installation, and I don't get to edit anything which other clients to their servers need. This would be only for my own use, and as such I need to know where these files go in my own webspace, and how to get Mailman to use them instead of the default ones. I should also say that I have done this before, so unless the facility to do this has been ditched in recent years, I *should* still be able to do it ! Does Mailman perhaps look for these files somewhere in my webspace (which I have to give a specific name), and if it doesn't find them it goes on to find its default versions of these files? Running two list with same email prefix

Hi all, I'm running a mail server with Debian Lenny, MTA is Postfix and i will use postfix-to-mailma.py script to run list I would set up Mailman for running mailing list with same email prefix on different domains, obvious with different list names For example we have ml.domain1.com and ml.domain2.net, i would like to have LISTADDRESS LISTNAME tech(a)ml.domain1.com tech-ml.domain1.com tech(a)ml.domain.2.net tech-ml.domain2.net In this way i can have the same address on differente domains and Mailman (my version is 2.1.11) can distinguish between lists because the list name is different. The list name will be also used to access web interface, so we have http://ml.domain1.com/mailman/admin/tech-ml.domain1.com http://ml.domain2.net/mailman/admin/tech-ml.domain2.net Is possible to accomplish this task? Any idea?

Hide list address?

Hi, Is there any way to configure Mailman such that, for an announcement-only type list, when a message is sent to the list, the To: shows the member's address, rather than the list address? Some list software allows the ability to hide the list address itself, so that address is not advertised. I couldn't find any configuration specific to that.

Hevy resource footprint forces backdrop to mailman 2.1

Greetings, after many years of smoothly running a mailman2 instance I had to migrate my virtual server to a new provider. There I found, that mailman2 was no longer supported and tried to migrate to mailman3 .. with much pain and no success. Mailman3 keeps crashing my v-server and swallows almost every mail sent to any of the migrated lists. So I wanted to switch back to mailman 2.1.39 by installing from the source package and found that this also fails due to missing python2 support. How to solve this? Thank you very much

Constant Mailman error messages

I have a hosting client using MailMan with about 10,000 subscribers. He sends mail only about once or twice a year and it is an announcement only list, no discussion, he is the only one who posts. Recently he posted and now I am getting constantly flooded with the following message. I have killed the mailman running processes and rebooted the server. The error message continue. Changing "From:" in header..

I'm managing 2 mail lists using MM 2.1.38 in cpanel. I set up a list last year and another list in the last couple months. As far as I can tell, both lists have the same options set in general. However, the new list has a very nice "From:" header format showing the full name of the person who posted, "Via", and the name of the list. The older list always just says the name of the list in the "From:" header. Can't seem to find a way to change this behavior to match the first list. I've looked through the help files and Wiki and have come up empty. Thanks for your time. Robert Wertheimer

Unwanted digest to moderator

I am an administrator and moderator for a Mailman 2.1.18 list. Some months ago I started getting frequent digests addressed to the <list>-requests@<--> address. Why might this be happening and how can I stop it? John

This with mailman 2.1.39. And this in response to Gmail's utterly foolish and obnoxious "feature" of throwing away an incoming email that appears to be "from yourself" I regularly get inquiries about "how come my submission didn't get posted". Hi, I have developed a custom python script to generate a captcha, to reduce the amount of illegitimate users signing up to our mailing lists. i would like to have the users to complete the captcha before they are able to subscribe. Where and how should this script be called from ?

Overriding/modifying the login page

Hi, I followed the guidelines on https://docs.mailman3.org/en/latest/install/virtualenv.html and everything is fine, but I would like to create a custom login page. So, that would be on /accounts/login/ from the allauth app. Should I create a separate app and override the path? Should I modify the urls.py -- and where would that be located?
