[Mailman-Users] Subscribe users from command line?

Hello,

Is it possible to add email addresses to a list's subscriber base from command line (from a shell script)?

I had a script 'echo email@addr >> ~majordomo/lists/mylist' but mailman uses databases, so it should be done calling python routines, somehow...

ps: btw isn't it possible to see list archieves older than one month..? I tried to look this info up but only last month's archieves were available.
