This log message does not exist in standard GNU Mailman. What Mailman package/version is this?
Further, this has nothing to do with the message(s) below.
In any case, this appears to be saying that the message was discarded either by a moderator after being held or by the Moderate handler. This has nothing to do with the number of list members.
In /var/log/mailman/smtp , the log show
Sep 14 11:09:51 2010 (2716) <7FCF6A56F44641DBB64C71FD58C8B186@jcci19> smtp to allmember for 2001 recips, completed in 2.592 seconds -> (but we are very sure once it hit 2000 or above , it wont send because we are inside the mailing list and didn’t receive the email , but once it is below 2k recipient , we will sure received the email).
In /var/log/mailman/smtp-failure , smtp-failure1 , smtp-failure2 , smtp-failure3 and smtp-failure4 , the log is empty.
The above says that the message was successfully delivered to the outgoing MTA in some number of transactions with a total of 2001 recipients. Mailman has delivered that message. What happens next is up to the MTA.
What are your mm_cfg.py settings if any for SMTP_MAX_RCPTS, SMTPHOST and SMTPPORT? If these are not set in mm_cfg.py, what are the Defaults.py settings?
The mailog of the postfix will show send "status=sent" irregardless of the numbers of the recipient
This log is incomplete.
Sep 20 09:34:26 ml2 postfix/local[26043]: AE6251F401: to=<allmember@ml2.ntti.net.sg>, relay=local, delay=0.25, delays=0.11/0/0/0.14, dsn=2.0.0, status=sent (delivered to command: /usr/lib/mailman/mail/mailman post allmember)
The above is the post delivered to Mailman for posting to the allmember list.
Sep 20 09:34:29 ml2 postfix/cleanup[26042]: 4441A1F401: message-id=<mailman.34.1284946467.2713.allmember@ml2.ntti.net.sg> Sep 20 09:34:30 ml2 postfix/cleanup[26042]: 746861F419: message-id=<mailman.34.1284946467.2713.allmember@ml2.ntti.net.sg>
And the above two entries are Mailman generated messages, possibly a notice of a held message to allmember-owner and then the resend of that to the actual owner/moderators.

Where are the log entries corresponding to the Sep 14 11:09:51 entry in the smtp log? Wher are the rest of the entries for queue ids 4441A1F401, 746861F419, etc?
I appreciate your keeping this thread on the list, but it would help if you would actually join the list too.
