list names and virtual domains

Having been charged temporarily of a certain service, I've been asked to solve in this period the following problem:
on a machine running many different virtual hosts, each time that a new list is created with mailman, mailman adds to the list name the full virtual domain name.
I mean: if I create a list called TEST@myhost.org in mailman it becomes TEST_MYHOST.ORG@myhost.org
and I feel that this situation is quite odd.
I tryed to browse in the archives, but -due to my inexperience- I'm not sure which is the correct definition of the problem, because I found among others the following answers that do not seem to fullfill exactly my situation:

I'll be very thankful to anyone giving me a helping hand!
thanks a lot for your patience

I am guessing this is a cPanel Mailman. This is the technique that cPanel and perhaps others use to allow lists of the same name in different virtual domains.
