The web interface is pathalogical for subscribes. Avoid it for bulk work. Use the provided command line tools add_members and remove_members instead. Much faster and FAR more effective.

Your "cron" job on news /usr/local/bin/python /usr/local/mailman/cron/senddigests

Run check_perms and fix anything it finds.
