Expiring mailing lists

I noticed that a couple of sites lists include expiration dates for their mailman lists.
I'm interested in using such a feature on my site; is there a particular version where this is available, or is it customized site-by-site? Any pointers to information on implementation? [Also, if this is the wrong list to ask this question, please point me to the right one]
Thanks!

This is not a feature in GNU Mailman as distributed by the Mailman project.

This is the first I've heard of this. I have no information about the implementation.

I would ask the admins of the site(s) where you've seen this.
