How to change the mailman admin email domain
I installed Mailman 2.1.16 today on Ubuntu 14.04. We are using the email domain lists.xxx.com which worshippers well for mailing lists, however the main domain I am using for normal email is xxx.com. The problem arises when trying to contact Mailman admin following this instruction:
“If you are having trouble using the lists, please contact mailman@lists.xxx.com.”
Is there a possibility to setup the xxx.com domain for this sentence, or if not, make an alias so that mailman@lists.xxx.com is forwarded to mailman@xxx.com

You'd be much better off installing 2.1.24 from source. See https://launchpad.net/mailman/2.1/2.1.24/+download/ for the source and https://wiki.list.org/x/17891606 for installatipon help.

"works well" ?

mailman@lists.xxx.com is the posting address for the "mailman" site list. Configure that list to accept non-member posts and subscribe the addresses that you want to receive that mail.

Hi ark,
Thank you for your prompt reply.
You'd be much better off installing 2.1.24 from source. => Will do, thx.
"works well” ? => Yes, sorry, my email client changed it automatically.
Configure that list to accept non-member posts and subscribe the addresses that you want to receive that mail. => I do not think this is an option / solution to my problem. The text I mentioned “If you are having trouble using the lists, please contact mailman@lists.xxx.com.” is displayed on the MailMan homepage, so people may click on the email address and send an email. As this email address is inexistent, it will not work. Please correct me if I’m wrong.

Installing Mailman on lists.example.com will automatically create a special list, mailman, whose address will be mailman@lists.example.org, so the address should exist, that list may not be configured the way you want, which is why you were given instructions on how to configure it to work the way you want.

Hi Richard,
I now understand how to do it. Sounds as a good workaround. Thank you all very much for your help.

Installing Mailman on lists.example.com http://lists.example.com/ will automatically create a special list, mailman, whose address will be mailman@lists.example.org mailto:mailman@lists.example.org, so the address should exist, that list may not be configured the way you want, which is why you were given instructions on how to configure it to work the way you want.
