Listservers currently hosted with EMWD - urgent request for assistance
Hi everyone
We are looking for urgent assistance.
We have our listservers hosted with EMWD which stopped working on 23 December. We have since found out the devastating news that Brian Carpenter passed away last year. Brian was really helpful when we moved our listservers from a legacy system to hosting on the EMWD platform. My sincere condolences to his family and friends.
As we can no longer get a response from EMWD about our listserver issue I was wondering if any one else in this community could help.

This news was mentioned here some time ago, and I also miss his answers. However, Mark Sapiro wrote on June 5, 2021: "His family is continuing EMWDs services". Their website is still up and advertises Mailman 2 and Mailman 3 hosting services.

It may just be because of the holidays that you did not get an answer from EMWD. However, you might want to tell us
- is the EMWD hosting you have using cPanel for your administration
- what (if anything) did you (or any of the people having access) change on the list settings?
I am sure there are many people here who want to help.

I am unaware that EMWD changed anything so I am at a loss as to why they stopped working.
The EMWD hosting is on Postorius version 1.3.3
Mailman Core Version - GNU Mailman 3.3.1 (Tom Sawyer) Mailman Core API Version - 3.1 Mailman Core Python Version - 3.7.3 (default, Dec 20 2019, 18:57:59) [GCC 8.3.0]
We have changed nothing on the listservers other than adding or deleting users.
We have tried to contact EMWD and raised tickets etc before the holidays but all we get is an automated response.

Since this list mainly covers Mailman 2, you would probably be better off if you use this list: mailman-users@mailman3.org <https://lists.mailman3.org/mailman3/lists/mailman-users@mailman3.org/>.
But, of course, if you did not change anything and EMWD does not answer your requests, it is difficult to say what the reason is - no matter which list you use...

FWIW, I haven't heard anything. I have 3 students submitting MS/PhD theses in less than (checks watch) 18 hours, but after that I'll see if I can find out anything. I wouldn't bet on it, though, as I don't think anyone here has a connection to the Carpenter family or whoever is left of the EMWD staff. I assume you have checked the emwd.com website?

What does "stopped working" mean? I assume that list traffic is no longer being forwarded to subscribers, but perhaps other services are working. It may help if you can answer the following questions.
- Are you using the GNU Mailman-supplied Postorius/HyperKitty combination for administration and archiving, or EMWD's proprietary "Harmony" (Affinity/Empathy) platform?
- Can you see archives (if any)?
- Can you log in to the administrative interface?
- Is mail to the lists being returned to sender, or just disappearing into the void?
- You mention an automated response in a later message. Is that to an email you sent, or from a web-based issue-tracking system? What does it say about the current status of EMWD services, if anything?
