Hi all,
I have a problem to register to mailing lists managed with gnu mailman. I think it comes from the way my free email provider writes the subject line content but I'm not sure.
I copied below the email I sent to the gnu mailman server using the first "reply" method and the answer I got back from it. I did not use the second "single line in the message body" method because my email provider automatically adds a few extra lines at the end of my emails (advertisement for its ADSL internet service).
Since this is not the first time this problem occurs to me, with different gnu mailman servers, I thought it might be of interest. If you need more information, please let me know.
Thanks in advance for your help,
David.

Verse-dev -- confirmation of subscription -- request 953790
We have received a request from 193.253.216.98 for subscription of your email address, <dmab@chez.com>, to the verse-dev@blender.org mailing list. To confirm the request, please send a message to verse-dev-request@blender.org, and either:
maintain the subject line as is (the reply's additional "Re:" is ok),
or include the following line - and only the following line - in the message body:
confirm 953790
(Simply sending a 'reply' to this message should work from most email interfaces, since that usually leaves the subject line in the right form.)
If you do not wish to subscribe to this list, please simply disregard this message. Send questions to verse-dev-admin@blender.org.

No, the problem is that your MUA is encoding the message in 8-bit
quoted-printable format. The "=?iso-8859-1?Q?" stuff at the beginning is the way that the MUA tells the receiver what the character set is (ISO 8859-1), and the encoding is quoted-printable.
You need to turn off quoted-printable within your mail program,
and use plain 7-bit ASCII. However, this is a question that is specific to your particular mail program, and you should start by talking to your ISP.

As a side note, he possibly wants to enable 8bit, because he's French. If that client is Outlook (Express) that means: choose *no* encoding for the message and disallow 8bit headers in the headers.
