Plesk Migration -- Mailman Issues

Plesk migration from one server to another has some serious holes including sending list Welcome Messages to everyone on the lists that are migrated. This is not an acceptable scenario as far as I am concerned.
The Plesk workaround is to modify the mailman code before the migration:

I try never to modify core packages like this. Is this the only way to ensure that all the members do not receive Welcome Messages? If it is the best solution, shouldn't the code be restored at some later point in time?
Thoughts? Greg

I know virtually nothing about Plesk or their Mailman package, but it looks to me from a brief look at the above that it's talking about a migration process which creates a new list on the target and adds users to it.
This is not a good way to move a list. The way to move a list is to copy the lists/LISTNAME/config.pck file from the old server to the new. Then welcome messages will not be an issue.

I understand this is the "right way" to do this. Unfortunately, Plesk has not written the code to make this happen as part of their migration process. However, you have given me an idea. I think I will:
- Make sure I have backups of all the lists ( have an rsync of the entire source server)
- Delete our three lists from the source server
- Perform the Plesk Migration to bring all of our domains to the new server
- Add the three lists to the new server using the process you mention here
This allows me to use Plesk for most of the migration and manually move the mailman lists - the "right way".
Thanks for the idea, Greg
