
Please could someone confirm that if I backup /opt/mailman and all below, then I am backing up the complete mailman installation including the address lists and actual messages?

If /opt is mailman's home directory, and you haven't done a split install, then yes.
Look for "/opt/mailman/lists", and the "/opt/mailman/archives" directories. That's where the list and archived email is kept.

Don't forget to backup the actual list aliases as well.
