Re: [Ncr-Python.in] Ncr-Python.in Digest, Vol 28, Issue 4
Hi coursera.org has recently launched very good free online courses in python programming language. These courses are very well designed and give you hands on experience. regards Saurabh On Wed, May 22, 2013 at 3:30 PM, <ncr-python.in-request@python.org> wrote:

Hi Chandrakant,
I would suggest docs.python.org <http://docs.python.org>, i personally prefer it over courses.
Any objective reason to suggest docs.python.org over the coursera course ? Have you yourself taken the course and found it lacking in anyway ? Course provides a structured format as well as time boxing, which is very helpful. I myself have seen the course and have interacted with people who have taken the course. I think its a very good suggestion. Both docs and courses have their place. They are different form of leanings. If you prefer a more reading oriented form of learning dive into python is better resource to learn python compared to docs. This course https://www.coursera.org/course/interactivepython is quite good and people wanting to learn python should consider it. It is a very fun way to learn python. You can also interact with other people taking the course. rgds vivek

Gentle reminder while in the enthusiasm to share we seldom forget the http://python.org.in/wiki/NcrPython/MailingListGuidelines and press the reply button too soon . follow the list guidelines and we all should be good for eternity :-) -Satya fossevents.in
coursera coursed are not lacking by any means, i prefer official docs because they are compact, well written and official, so you can be sure that they are latest and authentic. On May 23, 2013 8:39 AM, "Vivek Puri" <vpuri.social@gmail.com> wrote:

A "course" conducted by someone (online or otherwise) is very different from the official documentation (which is different from other things like a tutorial). They cater to different audiences and have different strengths and weaknesses. It's generally a good thing to have more docs, tutorials, courses and other such learning aids for the language. I, for one, can't see any downsides. [...] -- Cordially, Noufal http://nibrahim.net.in
