Lets meetup on 4th of July 2015
Hello everyone, With all due regards. To keep up the tradition of meeting up. Let's plan a meetup on 4th of July. This is a call for venue possibility with the following: - A place to host a small 1-2 hour workshop before the meetup - Internet connection - Projector for the talks during the meetup - In a good locality (requested by female members of the community) Please submit this form in this regards or reply to this mail thread: http://goo.gl/forms/InUydXLLlT Agenda: 1. Workshop : Dive into python part 1 Here is a link to fill in your info if you want to come to the workshop: http://goo.gl/forms/mdcILSBMtN For students out there don't hesitate its free. The link here is just to make arrangements based on head count. This thought came up during the regular hangout call that happens on Thursdays night at 9. The idea to host small 1-3 parts workshops to keep continuity and help out new-comers in the python related techs. 2. Talks to be finalized and reported by @Anuvrat 3. Review of our efforts towards candidature for Pycon India 2016 4. Some thing that you might want to propose. More: The course about the workshop will be published soon as well. Do share the link pro-actively where-ever you can. We are still looking for Core Organisers/Volunteers for Pydelhi/PyCon Delhi Edition. Please fill out the form here if you are interested and haven't done it yet: http://bit.ly/pydelhi-call-for-core-organisers -- Regards, pyvkd (Vinay Dahiya) http://vkd.me
Hi Agenda:
1. Workshop : Dive into python part 1
Lets avoid using "Dive into python" to promote this talk on social media and elsewhere. We as organizers are in no way affiliated with Mark Pilgrim's http://diveintopython.net. Not that he would mind, but lets just avoid doing that.
PyDelhi's Python Workshop - sounds reinforcing to me. Cheers -- Anuvrat Parashar <http://anuvrat.in> http://anuvrat.in
@Anuvrat: Updated the name in places where possible. Also just to be clear everyone the form sent out is for workshop headcount not the meetup headcount. The plan for the day is like this: 1.) 1-2 hours workshop. 2.) 15-20 mins break 3.) 2 hours Meetup with talks and general discussion. 4.) Snacks and Misc. Workshop is for only those people who want to learn the topic and help out as volunteers. http://goo.gl/forms/mdcILSBMtN You can join in for the meetup only if you don't wish to come to the workshop. Do inform people about this workshop who you think will be interested. People please volunteer for meetup venue we need to finalize it by thursday. http://goo.gl/forms/InUydXLLlT -- Regards, pyvkd (Vinay Dahiya) http://vkd.me
Hi Folks, There has been change in plans a bit, on request of different members and also due to unavailability some members, it has been decided to postpone July 4th meetup to 11th July. We are positive on a good arrangement for venue, snacks and audience on 11th July. The basic python workshop form[1] is still open for submission (current submission count=8). We will be announcing the venue next week, along with a meetup.com link where you can rsvp ;-). **Footnotes: [1] http://goo.gl/forms/mdcILSBMtN Cheers, -- **Saurabh Kumar https://saurabh-kumar.com On Tue, Jun 30, 2015 at 12:49 PM, Vinay Dahiya <vinay.not.nice@gmail.com> wrote:

It is good to see such enthusiasm on the list. While I still think that we have a ways to go, the signs are encouraging. There are two possibilities of venues that I see: 1. TaxSpanner office at Netaji Subhash Place (opp. the big TV tower near Pitampura,North Delhi). 15-20 people can be accommodated, and snacks, etc., can be provided for. WiFi, too! 2. If a more central location is desired, I can almost certainly get Prof. Andrew Lynn to provide JNU as a venue. Let me know, as and when a venue is finalised.

One last comment: It seems like that we are forcing people to sign up to walled gardens where as the saying goes: "the product is *you*"; be it Facebook, Twitter, or meetup.com. I would strongly urge that one should be able to do *anything* needed for participation by virtue of being a member of this list. It should not be a requirement to give away the remaining shreds of one's privacy just to participate in Delhi/NCR Python activities. Regards, Gora

As part of running other meetup group, it has helped us to reach wider audience because of meetup, twitter, facebook. Presence in meetup helps discoverability. Meetup's RSVP helps event organizer to plan out for logistics and sending instruction to participants about workshops and other instructions. Certain companies will ask for attendees names in advance, mostly in IT Parks, meetup RSVP's will help there.

IMHO, that is a problem with such companies. If participants on this list are OK with such closed sites, with signup required, then please do go ahead by all means. I just meant to request that RSVPs on this list also be accepted. Personally, I am strongly opposed to requiring people to sign up for anything outside of the mailing list in order to participate in activities publicised on the list. However, that is, of course, a matter of consensus, and in the worst-case scenario I can just choose not to participate. Regards, Gora

Personally, I am strongly opposed to requiring people to sign up for anything outside of the mailing list in order to participate in activities publicised on the list. the effort is to get most out of all platforms that are avialable. the consideration for rsvps is not just meetup.com its from any available platfrom available to the user. we want participation from all the people and the respect of choices of platform and privacy is most important in all considerations.
Hey Folks, Sorry I have been away due to some commitments. Since I was not going to be able to make it on July 4th, I was not contributing on this thread. But if July 11th it is, then I the meetup can be held at Wingify office in Pitampura. We have all the requirements as stated earlier. Its approachable by metro. We have successfully held workshops and HasGeek's run-up events in the past as well. Let me know if this works and I will make the necessary arrangements.
