F2PY ?? Has anyone worked with the F2PY generator?

Pauli, Yes, I am utilizing the windows environment. I cannot install f2py. mixed-EOL problems w/

I have been trying to get Launchpad to do continuous imports of the SciPy subversion repository into Bazaar: https://code.launchpad.net/~vcs-imports/scipy/trunk This works fine for NumPy: https://code.launchpad.net/~vcs-imports/numpy/trunk However, this doesn't work for SciPy due to a mixed-EOL issue: https://bugs.launchpad.net/launchpad-cscvs/+bug/256050 Colin Watson has recently volunteered to look into fixing this issue and was asking if anyone had a preference about how this should be solved. Please let me know if you see any reason for one solution over another. just curious...why does numpy.where() return tuples?

Just for my own benefit, I am curious about this. I am running into problems because I need to archive the result (tuple) returned by a numpy.where statement. Pickle does not seem to like to deal with numpy scalars, and numpy's archiving functions (memmap) can't work on the tuple that gets returned by the where functions (I think). Is there a way around this? All would be good if the where statements actually returned numpy arrays instead. Thanks, -Mark

distance matrix and (weighted) p-norm

Hi, I'm trying to compute the distance matrix (weighted p-norm [*]) between two sets of vectors (data1 and data2). Example: import numpy as N p = 3.0 data1 = N.random.randn(100,20) data2 = N.random.randn(80,20) weight = N.random.rand(20) distance_matrix = N.zeros((data1.shape[0],data2.shape[0])) for d in range(data1.shape[1]): distance_matrix += (N.abs(N.subtract.outer(data1[:,d],data2[:,d]))*weight[d])**p pass distance_matrix = distance_matrix**(1.0/p) Is there a way to speed up the for loop? Hi, probably a basic question, but I'm looking for a neat way to sum all the positive values in an array of floats. I'm currently doing it the hard way, but am hoping there is some cunning and elegant syntax I can use instead

Are the CPP symbols HAVE_LONGDOUBLE_FUNCS and HAVE_FLOAT_FUNCS public ?

Hi, Those two symbols are mentioned in the numpy C-API book, but with my work on cleaning the math configuration, those are not needed by numpy anymore (I grep into numpy and scipy sources, and they are only used in umathmodule.c.src, where they are obsoleted by my clean-up). Can I remove them, or should I keep them for backward compatibility ? cheers, David

hi all, does numpy have funcs like isanynan(array) or isallfinite(array)? I very often use any(isnan(my_array)) or all(isfinite(my_array)), I guess having a single case triggered on would be enough here to omit further checks. Regards, D.

BUG in numpy.loadtxt?

The new behavior (in 1.1.1) breaks existing code that one of my colleagues has. Can we get a patch in before 1.2 to get this working with arrays again?
