I never have trouble cloning other repos off of Github over HTTP.

HTTP code 417 is: *417 - Expectation Failed* The expectation given in the Expect request-header could not be fulfilled by the server. Because of this, I suspect it has something to do with the http proxy, but given that you aren't having issues with other repos, I am not sure exactly how that can be the case. An incorrectly configured proxy should have the same issue with other http-based repos... Ben Root
