Why the restriction for matrices?
Looks like it just got overlooked. It works fine for 2D arrays. In [11]: 1.0**eye(3) Out[11]: array([[ 1., 1., 1.], [ 1., 1., 1.], [ 1., 1., 1.]]) Chuck
