oh man! not again!.

Oh well, that is a decidedly different proposal -- maybe better, I don't know.  But it's different enough that I think we should pretty much ignore it for now, and still do a few fixes to make the current datetime64 usable.

Maybe as that gets mature, we could adopt it, or something like it, to numpy. Or maybe we'll all be using Blaze then anyway ;-)
