Ah, that reminds me of something I tried, that is using the global cache something, with gacutil, which is supposed to work with 'bare' dll. Of course, it did not work as said on MSDN, and I got some obscure error message (I am starting to wonder if anything coming from MS works at all).
Have fun! The SxS issue has bitten us in the a.. when we delivered the second beta of Python 3.0.
