Outreachy internship
Hi everyone, The team at BIDS would like to take on an intern from Outreachy (https://www.outreachy.org), as part of our effort to grow the NumPy developer community. The internship is similar to a GSoC, except that we will pay their salary, as well as do the mentoring. We wanted to check in beforehand to ensure that everyone is comfortable with us doing this on behalf of the NumPy community. Your thoughts and recommendations are welcome! Best regards, Stéfan

Sounds like a great idea to me! Unlike for GSoC, you can look for a good candidate first and see what their interests are - could work better, GSoC like ideas have proven to be pretty hard to come by for NumPy. And arguably tackling different smaller tasks could be more educational. Cheers, Ralf
