Hi All, Just two comments on the current scipy top page: 1) I really miss the recent changes link, it was the only way I could keep current on the Wiki contents. It was also a good way to track spam. 2) The addition of the bug reporting link is good, but it is hard to notice. How about putting it up top using one of the neat python logos with a bug addition? Chuck

The link just adds more clutter to the front page, which should be aimed at new users. I think that the front page is still way too busy. The page is still available. If you want to see the recent changes just go to: http://www.scipy.org/RecentChanges If you need to find it, you can bookmark it, remember the URL, do a search for "recent changes", add it to your navibar, or get the RSS feed.
2) The addition of the bug reporting link is good, but it is hard to notice. How about putting it up top using one of the neat python logos with a bug addition?
+1. If you (or someone else) make a new icon for bugs, I will happily add it. I'll give it a shot as well, but I am sure whatever I do will be easy to improve on. By the way, I would like to thank who ever made the existing icons; they make the front page much more attractive. -- Jarrod Millman Computational Infrastructure for Research Labs 10 Giannini Hall, UC Berkeley phone: 510.643.4014 http://cirl.berkeley.edu/

I went ahead and took a shot at it: www.scipy.org I also mocked up an all black bug: http://www.scipy.org/SciPy?action=AttachFile&do=view&target=scipybuglogosm5b.png If anyone can do a better job (and surely someone can), please go ahead. Yup, this one is my favorite: http://www.scipy.org/SciPy?action=AttachFile&do=view&target=scipybuglogosm4b.png Thanks! f

Thanks for the attention to this...I think we need to seek continual improvement to the web site (numpy's default pages, again, could use some TLC). I've tweaked the bug a bit using the original photoshop scipy logo. Anyone who'd like the source images in photoshop format (or any other) let me know. Hopefully a distributed approach to the graphics and site design will exceed my limited skill. Thanks, Travis (V.)

The bigger size is good, but I think the head needs to be green or yellow so that it stands out against the background. Chuck

Ah, yes, good. Perhaps some color for the antennae too? Chuck

Nice. In order to have better contrast around the legs, one could use the same white "shadow"/aura as in the download icon. (++consistency) -- Ciao, / / /--/ / / ANS
