Hi all, this is a rather heated report on how the process for Go modules looked like from the perspective of the author of a rejected alternative: https://twitter.com/sdboyer/status/1034893100450291713 <https://twitter.com/sdboyer/status/1034893100450291713> This is rather lengthy but the main take aways are: - BDFL process lacks transparency; - a proposal needs clear phases through which it flows to avoid giving a false impression of progress; - toxic process alienates dedicated contributors; - proverbs/koans adopted by community sometimes hide user pain. All of the above are relevant to Python. CALL TO ACTION: doesn't look like we have anybody volunteering to cover Go, do we? It seems our survey would be incomplete without that case study. -- Ł
I know nothing about the Go ecosystem, but this controversy seems to have exploded very recently (at least the summary that you posted) and I wonder if it's too early to learn from it. Also, according to https://twitter.com/sdboyer/status/1034902106283507712 (see replies), Go is really Google-controlled. Regards Antoine. Le 30/08/2018 à 12:25, Lukasz Langa a écrit :
