Python Calendar Team - Volunteers needed

Hello PSF members!
*The Python Calendar Team needs help. *
A description of what the group does is available on their wiki: https://wiki.python.org/moin/PythonEventsCalendar. This also includes instructions on how to submit events to the group for those that need it :)
The group is in need of volunteers that can actively check in on requests weekly. If you have an hour a week to dedicate (sometimes less is needed!), please email events@python.org.
Have a great week!
Thank you,
Ewa

Since sometimes our local usergroup stopped sending events as our previous events were not put on the calendar. We thought we were wrongly submitting.

To be fair there are only 2 people on the team who've been on it who knows how long already.
I'd bet that this is a significant path for event discovery for newbies who aren't already embedded in the network of events and social media streams. I used it to join the wider UK Python community several years ago and have found it very useful since. I'm sure we can pull together a few more people for a few more hours of reviewing and then reviews will speed up.
Greetings, Emanuil

Agree, it sure increases our UG's search engine visibility!

The Python community needs your help. Learning how to edit events is relatively easy, though alas I have no link. I am pretty sure there is an immediate need for volunteers, so anyone who actually wants to give to the community as well as consume it should feel free to raise a hand!
If you would like to try the site's development system, there is a moderate degree of documentation about how the site works and is maintained. Any community member with access to the necessary computing resources can build the site, though I confess it is so long since I dabbled in the code myself I have little current knowledge.
I CAN say fairly confidently that working on the site and improving the documentation would be a good project to get involved with to provide evidence of a certain competence and learn some software engineering skills. Also, because the code is open source it's suitable for use in educational and community projects. People who learn it have a real chance of changing the face of python.org.
The code for the site is a great resource, and running it locally requires competence that teams and individuals can learn.
Kind regards, Steve

Forgive me, in haste I omitted the link to the web site developer notes: https://www.python.org/dev/pydotorg/

And to save some of you a click, the updated link: https://pythondotorg.readthedocs.io/
While I'm here, the first page I linked mentions the webmaster list. That is another area where volunteers (who can start by just joining the list and reading some of the archives) would be more than welcome. As far as I can tell there's just a couple of crusty old white guys (of which I am one) holding the fort and happy to pass on the reigns, such as they are.
I believe I am currently the only active list administrator, so just mail me at webmaster@python.org if you are interested in joining that list. It's not high-volume, but it's a part of the Python community's public face, and so needs better representation from our rich community. Once you've assessed the traffic and a bit of list history you can start pitching in whenever you feel comnfortable.
Kind regards, Steve

Hello everyone,
if you're interested in helping with adding events to the calendars please *subscribe* to our ML:
https://mail.python.org/mailman/listinfo/python-events
I don't have time to do 1-1 introductions to how we operate the calendars and send emails to everyone who responded, sorry.
I'll wait a couple more days and then ask on the list for GMail compatible email addresses I can then add to the calendars and also send an intro to the list.
Thanks,
