Same thing with me - was travelling last week and missed the call for that reason. Is there any way to extend the deadline a bit?

Sorry to hear that you both missed the deadline. Unfortunately we are unable to extend the deadline for tutorial submissions.
Be sure to submit proposals for talks by December 20, 2019.
