Two talks have been cancelled:
"Introduction to CMF Application Development", 3:15PM Saturday.
"Beyond Scripting: Using Python to Create a Medical Information System
with Graphical Template and Database Schema Design" at 2:10PM Sunday.

A new application is available to let PyCon attendees display their
locations and interests using Google Maps.
http://us.pycon.org/apps/maps/
You can add yourself, or add your local user group to help others find
you. You can also add tags describing your interests (e.g. 'zope',
'python', 'beer').
This application was written by Brett Hoerner.

A new application is available to display and update the conference's
schedule.
The main schedule display is at:
http://us.pycon.org/apps/roomy/tables/
You can also construct a customized schedule, containing only the
talks you're interested in:

To schedule an open space talk, click on a block marked as
'Unassigned' and fill in your event's title and a URL with more
information.

DO NOT BRING YOUR OWN BOOKS
For inventory security reasons, please do NOT bring your own books to the
bookstore to be signed. Mixing attendee books with store books in a party
atmosphere would be difficult to manage and we need to be considerate of the
store. I mispoke in the original announcement.
So that the bookstore can have copies on-hand, we'd like to collect a list
of titles you'd consider having signed. Please edit the following wiki page
and add your choices. Authors, you can add your books too.

Because many authors of books related to Python will be in attendance at
PyCon, we would like to organize a book signing activity. It seems logical
to hold it Saturday night at the party at the Nerdbooks.com bookstore.
Bring your own books or buy new ones in the store!
And if you're an author in attendance who would like to promote your book,
drop an email to "jeff at taupro.com" or come forward when we call the book
signing to order in the store.

Last reminder: reserve your PyCon hotel rooms today! Go to
http://us.pycon.org/Addison/Hotels for a link to the reservation page.
After today, you can still try to book rooms at the conference
rate. The hotel, however, doesn't guarantee that rooms will be
available at that rate, and you may end up having to stay somewhere
else, or pay the hotel's full price.

One PyCon tradition is leaving blank spaces on the schedule for
attendees to fill in with their own events, such as birds-of-a-feather
discussions, presentations, or brainstorming sessions.
Many open space events are arranged on the spur of the moment at the
conference, but you can also start setting things up now.
For instructions on how to set up an event in this open space
in the schedule, please see the instructions at
<http://us.pycon.org/TX2006/OpenSpace>.

If you're trying to reduce your hotel costs for PyCon, there's a wiki
page at <http://us.pycon.org/Addison/RoomSplitting> for listing
yourself as a potential roommate.
(Of course, PyCon and the PSF take no responsibility for the outcome
if you share a room with someone you don't know well.)

Sunday, January 15th, is the last day on which you can obtain the
lower early-bird registration price. The cost of registration will be
going up on Monday; I'm quite sure that the early bird period will
*not* be extended again.
Another reminder: if you're coming to PyCon and staying in the
conference hotel, you *must* reserve your hotel rooms before February
1st in order to get the lower conference rate; if you reserve after
the 1st, you'll be stuck paying the hotel's standard room rate. Go to
http://us.pycon.org/Addison/Hotels for hotel information and a link to
the reservation page for PyCon.
