Hey there!I’m Anna and I’m PyCon Open Spaces chair this year. I’m reaching out to ask if it would be possible to add the Open Spaces to the Guidebook app for PyCon. Since the Open Spaces are self-organized and topics will be determined spontaneously onsite, we were thinking that there could maybe simply be an Open Spaces column in the Guidebook app for each day, left blank and titled “Open Spaces", to indicate that the Open Spaces are happening linking to a section explaining what they are and how you can sign up. Maybe something along those lines:"Open Spaces are a way for people to come together to talk about topics, ideas, or whatever they like. They offer groups the ability to self-gather, self-define, and self-organize in a way that often doesn’t happen anywhere else at PyCon. Any subject that two or more attendees would like to talk about is a candidate for an Open Space. How do I participate in an Open Space?
It's pretty easy: Just show up :)
During PyCon, there will be Open Spaces boards somewhere near the registration desk. The boards act as a time table for all the Open Spaces, so you know where and when to go for the Open Spaces you're interested in. If a topic is not listed yet, find an open time slot and add it! Open Spaces topic cards are included in the goodie bag you receive at registration."
We are hoping that having the Open Spaces as part of the Guidebook app would remind people that this is an alternative option to attending the talks and would increase participation in the Open Spaces. Please let me know if this would be possible, and if yes what else you may need in order to add the Open Spaces to the Guidebook app.Thank you so much!Anna--------------------------------- You are appreciated. You are enough. You matter. You are not alone.
