Hi Mary, Loren, and the Open Spaces committee,
As you might be aware, the Open Source Initiative is organizing a
multi-stakeholder process to define an “Open Source AI”:
https://opensource.org/deepdive
As part of this process, we have organized several online and in-person
meetings and workshops around the world, including Open Source Congress,
Open Source Summit, All Things Open, Linux Foundation's Members Summit, and
AI.dev (Open Source GenAI & ML Summit).
We would love the opportunity to hold this workshop at PyCon, as we believe
that the Python community is an important stakeholder.
As an example of the agenda for this workshop, please find more information
in the following document:
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1e8b90yVQ3jOTAcu54mcA2Zb6C681ggBG1J1_YAM…
Looking at the events held at PyCon, we felt that "Open Spaces" was the
best fit for a workshop like this, although we would preferably need 90 to
120 minutes of time (maybe even as 2 sessions).
Please let us know if that would be a possibility and how we can make it
happen. Python community's input regarding what constitutes Open Source AI
is of most value, as you bring together AI practitioners and developers
alike
Thank you for your consideration.
Kind regards,
Nick and Mer
Hi! I'm planning to hold a small ad hoc event at PyCon US 2024. I would need a projector and, ideally, a microphone; is this something that any of the Open Spaces ever have, or should I instead be directing my suggestion towards the Hatchery?
plan: Beautiful Soup anniversary celebration
Title: 20th Anniversary of Beautiful Soup
Content: [May 19th, 2024 will be the 20th anniversary of the screen-scraping tool Beautiful Soup.](https://www.harihareswara.net/posts/2024/celebrate-beautiful-soups-2… Maintainer Leonard Richardson and a few others will speak about it, and you can thank Leonard!
Date & time: Sunday, May 19th, 1:45pm-2:30pm
(If this could be an Open Space, then I would like this to go up on https://us.pycon.org/2024/events/open-spaces/ , please! Otherwise, please let me know.)
Thanks!
