Hello everyone, It’s only a couple more weeks until PyCon US 2016 in Portland, Oregon! We on the Open Spaces Committee are getting really excited. We know that your group might have several members attending PyCon — and we wanted to get you thinking about hosting an Open Space at the conference this year. Open Spaces are little one-hour meetups during the three main conference days, held in free meeting rooms that PyCon provides. People come together and talk about their favorite topics and ideas like neural nets or natural language processing, or enjoy activities like yoga, painting their nails, and playing board games. Any topic that two or more attendees are interested in, or any activity that more than two people would like to do, is a great candidate for an Open Space. You may ask: what’s so awesome about the Open Spaces? They offer groups the ability to self-gather, self-define, and self-organize in a way that often doesn’t happen anywhere else at PyCon. The first opportunity to reserve an Open Space slot will be during the PyCon opening reception. For more information regarding the Open Spaces, please see this blog post http://pycon.blogspot.de/2016/04/open-spaces-plan-day-ahead-this-year-at.htm.... We would appreciate if you could share this information with the members of your group. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to our committee at pycon-openspaces@python.org. We look forward to a great PyCon US 2016 and to many great Open Spaces! Anna Ossowski, Kinga Kieczkowska, & Hobson Lane

Hello everyone, I just sent out the email below to a bunch of groups. Hobson did a great job creating a list with email addresses for us. Thank you, Hobson! The email list is available here https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1kDxgsM9taZc-Ii9b5HZI5dVhUsEAB3I2WNrs... <https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1kDxgsM9taZc-Ii9b5HZI5dVhUsEAB3I2WNrs...> Hobson is going to work on adding a few more email addresses of Python user groups. Kinga and Hobson, since I will start traveling on Thursday and won’t be as available as I usually am, I would appreciate if one of you could send out the same email to the additional groups once Hobson has added their email addresses to the list. Could one of you please do that? Also I would like to remind you that I would like to have a short Open Spaces team meeting probably on Sunday right before the opening reception. I will email you the time and location (somewhere in the conference center) closer to PyCon. If Sunday late afternoon doesn’t work for you, please let me know and we will figure out something else. Have a great week and I look forward to seeing you at PyCon soon ☀️ Warm regards, Anna --------------------------------- You are appreciated. You are enough. You matter. You are not alone.
