Training open space at PyCon
Hi! I'd love to host an open space at PyCon for Python trainers and those interested in training. I'd prefer to do it mid-day on Friday, with a 2nd choice of early Sunday. Reuven -- Reuven M. What should our response be to folks who email in about reserving an open
space? Do we do that? Should we explain how they work?

Hi Trey! I think we should respond to them briefly and add them to the “planned open spaces” section https://us.pycon.org/2018/events/open-spaces/ on the PyCon website (very bottom). Thank you! Anna —— You are appreciated. You are enough. You matter. You are not alone.

Hi Reuven,
I've added your open space to the bottom of the open spaces page under the
Planned Open Spaces section: https://us.pycon.org/2018/events/open-spaces/
You'll want to make sure you get your open space on the open spaces board
during the conference. I recommend showing up early on the 2nd day to
ensure there's a mid-day spot available that works well for you and to
increase the odds of others seeing the open space.
Personal note: Since I'd like to attend this one as well, I'd love it to
not be during my talk at 4:30pm on Saturday. Raymond Hettinger's talk is at
3:15pm on Saturday so might be best at a time other than that also. Maybe
2pm on Saturday would be a good time to try for? I can help promote it to
other trainers I know who will be there as well.

Woo hoo!

It won't be on Saturday, since I don't use computers/phones/pens that day for religious reasons. (I'll be happy to amaze and horrify you with the details in person.) So I selfishly wanted to put it up so as to make sure the open space is *NOT* on Saturday. I'm open for either Friday or Sunday. My preference is Friday, so that I can meet people early on in the conference. So, let's make it mid-day on Friday, since you wrote that as an option. I'll come early on Friday to put it on the open spaces list. Reuven -- Reuven M. I just updated the page to list mid-day Friday only.
I may tweet/email some trainers I know to see when would work for them. I'd
suggest maybe 2pm Friday.
Looking forward to meeting you in-person Reuven!
(BCC-ing open spaces email list since we may continue this conversation
personally)
