PyPI search link on the python.org search page is incorrect

Hello all, A user has report that the PyPI search link from the python.org "advanced search" page is broken. If you go to python.org and click on "Advanced Search" link under the search box at the top right it takes you to: http://www.python.org/search/ This page has a "Search the Python Packages Index (PyPI)" link, which takes you to: http://pypi.python.org/pypi?:action=search_form This page is non-functioning, which means that either the link is incorrect or the functionality has stopped working. Package index (2.x) is very big. It is difficult to find good needed package -- now everybody have to check every package with description connected to subject. In future 3.x it can be again big. It can be helpful to split list on 2 lists: A) Packages B) Packages arch -- in this list should by dead packages (non updates for 3 years) and low rating (lower then 3). I know there are Categories but it doesn't work perfect. 4. List of packages -- should have columns : Last update, Rating, Downloads 5. Please make "Advanced Search" in "Package Index". 6. Now "Video Python" is in About->Application http://www.python.org/about/apps/ and nowhere else. It should be in Help /Documentation. 7. A reader has reported an error (and I'm pretty sure he's correct - see below) in the article at: http://www.python.org/doc/essays/threads.html This article isn't in the website svn and so I can't just correct it. I assume it is an old-and-no-longer-maintained article. The article itself starts with "This is an unfinished draft!". I think the best course of action is just to delete it from the website. Anyone disagree? First of all thanks for your work, I think it is a great contribution. I was reading this page http://www.python.org/doc/essays/threads.html And in my opinion the following paragraph contain a tiny mistake. The words underlain are in reverse order, so will be [.... from locked to unlocked ..... ] ... A lock is an object with two states: locked and unlocked. Initially, it is in the unlocked state. It has two methods: acquire() and release(). The acquire() method changes the lock from the unlocked into the locked state. This is like setting a semaphore to unsafe and entering the stretch of railroad tracks guarded by the semaphore. The release() method changes the lock from _unlocked to locked_; it is like leaving the stretch and resetting the semaphore to safe. When acquire() is called on a lock that is already locked, the operation *blocks* until another thread invokes the release() method. This is like a train waiting to enter the stretch until the semaphore signals safe. It is illegal to call release() when the lock is unlocked. This would be like a train leaving the guarded stretch without having set the semaphore to unsafe on entering -- a crash may occur! ... Thanks a lot. Porting python.org website

My name is Prashant Kumar. I and my friend Zubin have recently finished the porting of Configobj. I was wondering if there is any way we could help in the porting of python.org website over to python3k. It would be great if we get the information regarding the dependencies which could be a factor in hampering the porting over to Python3, the framework being used for hosting and other necessary details. with regards, pkumar
