Editing IntroductoryBooks page

I was just reading the wiki looking for some recommended introductory books on the IntroductoryBooks page and noticed that most of the entries there are Video courses. While, interesting, it's not what this page is about. Hoping to edit this page (and move the courses to a VideoCourses page - or some such) I found that it's locked down, likely due to inconsiderate users or spammers. I'd like to be able to fix this page as well as add a separate one for courses. Can I do that? thank you, RagnarVanDerWiel

Thanks Piyush, I have forwarded this email to our web development team. I rather doubt the information is up to date, since I don't think Mercurial is used to maintain the source for the site. You will notice that the most recent referenced date in the .hg directory is around eight years go. Bogus wiki.python.org attachment on BeginnersGuide

I no longer have access to my old wiki.python.org account but got a bounce message (via postmaster) today which related to an attachment added to the BeginnersGuide page: https://wiki.python.org/moin/BeginnersGuide The page history shows a deletion and addition of the attachment in quick succession. I don't know if the old one was bogus, but the new one certainly seems to be. It's a JPEG with a .pdf extension. Someone probably should check it out and perhaps restore the old attachment or remove it altogether. Skip

Thanks, -- emery (Scalene developer, among many other things) >From https://github.com/emeryberger/scalene: Scalene is a high-performance CPU *and* memory profiler for Python that does a few things that other Python profilers do not and cannot do. It runs orders of magnitude faster than other profilers while delivering far more detailed information. 1. Scalene is *fast*. It uses sampling instead of instrumentation or relying on Python's tracing facilities. Its overhead is typically no more than 10-20% (and often less). 2. Scalene is *precise*. Unlike most other Python profilers, Scalene performs CPU profiling *at the line level*, pointing to the specific lines of code that are responsible for the execution time in your program. This level of detail can be much more useful than the function-level profiles returned by most profilers. 3. Scalene separates out time spent running in Python from time spent in native code (including libraries). Most Python programmers aren't going to optimize the performance of native code (which is usually either in the Python implementation or external libraries), so this helps developers focus their optimization efforts on the code they can actually improve. 4. Scalene *profiles memory usage*. In addition to tracking CPU usage, Scalene also points to the specific lines of code responsible for memory growth. It accomplishes this via an included specialized memory allocator.
