Hello,
we are currently considering distributing bytecode compiled sources (.pyc) in Pyodide both for the Python standard library and package wheels. This has the potential to significantly speed up the initialization time, but at the cost of loss of source code readability and less detailed exception tracebacks. See https://github.com/pyodide/pyodide/issues/3269 for more details.
If you have any comments or concerns about this proposal, please respond here or in the linked issue.
On an unrelated topic, we have been struggling with unsolicited mail on this mailing list in the past. I don't know why we have this problem and not other OSS mailing lists @python.org. For now, we have done what we could against it, and I'm hoping that was sufficient. If this problem persists, we may end up closing the mailing list, and switch to other communication channels.
Best,
Roman Yurchak
